BF2 or Battlefield 2142?

right, I want to play some battlefield on my pc again. Which one should I go for? are both still active?

I would say BF2 seems alot more popular, haven't played in a long while had issues with it and my computer. Looking forward to 1943 though looks a cheap alternative, also ben playing Heroes but not that impressed.

BF2 has serious problems with Vista as far as I'm aware. Factor that in to your decision if that's what you're on.

iirc it actually could until they patched it. I quite liked BF2, until it became unplayable for me due to the connection to the master servers and pb servers dropping every minute or so.

ah well, it looks like I might aswell have to wait for operation flashpoint 2 I won't bother with more vista problems.

BF1943 is coming in the summer, and a PC version of BF:Bad Company. Problem is they're both 24 player max (a result of the Frostbite engine being designed with consoles in mind). BF Heroes is more TF2 than traditionally Battlefield; passes the time though.

I tried to get BF2 working on Vista 64 and failed utterly; PB seems to be the problem.

BF3 is still rumoured for 2010.

yeah Gaff, I installed 2142 a couple months ago and it was completely unplayable
