well with me, it was kinda a mutual decision... though i will propose formally in few weeks time (right time, right place, good ring, etc)...
it's no longer going to be a double wedding though...
basically, kate, the other bride, has a brother, stu - who lives with my gf atm - well he has a gf - Jen.... he's got her up the duff... and completely unrelated - he asked her to marry him... so when kate & Becki found out... they didn't think it was fair to have 1 double wedding & 1 single wedding... bearing in mind how close they all are....
a triple wedding would be a farce... so we're doing three single weddings... and Becki and I's wedding retains the 9th may date....
stuff is going apace now though - Becki & I are going to get our own place sooner, rather than later - basically her family has a TON of building trade contacts... her stepdad is an electrician, damp proofer, etc... and she has other trade relatives... and we've seen this house - 25-30k offers accepted atm... that's very very nice, bit run down, needs a lot of work - but is structurally sound... and has the advantage that we can do it out exactly as we want, instead of spending 60-70k on a house, then redecorating it anyway....
picked the rings, got the venue, sorting out the guest lists, she's ordering the dress in a week or two... can't believe how well it's all going :>
Buying cheap and doing up is definitely the way to go. I reckon I saved about £20 000 on the cost of mine, thing is I've only spent about £10 000 on it and its already gone up in value by about £40 000
