Beta better than release?

Now that's something I haven't heard before, looks like they really fucked this game up at the last minute. No idea what they were thinking releasing a game this prematurely, maybe it was all the pressure the fanboys were putting on them, but they're going to feel the backfire of it now.

Seen a lot of posts similar to the one below with people claiming the beta was better than the gold version, this is a very troubled game imo.

I was in the beta but have not yet got my retail copy (grr).

I shall be interested to see if it IS worse than beta. One thing i do know:

At the end of beta, people started to not play anymore - they were told it was ending on the 26th and people kind of lost motivation to develop their characters on the 19th or so.

There were quite a few patches leading up to the 26th release so yes, it is quite likely that a lot of bugs could of sneaked in and not been discovered by the beta testers.

At one point the developers were even offering people FREE HOUSES in the RETAIL VERSION for coming online and carrying on their beta testing by doing silly ingame competitions.

I think SOME of the beta-testers will just be saying beta was better than release because now everyone has access to the game they don't feel special anymore. They were used to the closeness of the community and the fact people envied them. Its their way of giving their life meaning imho. :m00:

Yepp think there is some truth there they WHERE special now they are like any other player.

But the real reason is probablly that they patched is so often at the ending that ALOT of bugs turned up wich they didnt have time to fix before release, and I dont think the game that acctually is retail is the same version(older of course) then the last beta.

naa alot of things were done to meet deadlines, honestly, take the image designer for instance.
"hmmm nobody is going the image designer, what do we do?" says dev1.
"i know why don't we take all the cool bits out of character creation and that'll save us having to add some stuff to make the image designer useful?" grins dev2.
"GREAT! that's that problem sorted" dev1 shouts with glee :)

probably a bit harsh on the devs there but you get the idea and
don't get me wrong,it's a great game and will be even better in six months time, but there are certain things that should have be left alone and others that were ignored.i just expected a bit more from lucasarts/sony and like all mmorpg's it can be fixed in time.well that's all from me before i start with the smuggler thing......
