Has to be bacbecued pork the russian style, means the pork is chopped into decent size bits <about 8X4X4 rectangles> then its put into marinade <you can add a bit of wine/lemon/spices and leave the pork for 2 hours>. After that the most important part --> the frying, basically you use this metal erm box <look it up in the piccy below>. When you get nuff wood coals at the bottom of this thing you scewer the meat with whatchamacallit <see piccy> and let it roast there. When its ready consume with tomato juice and vodka, makes one of the best by far main meals In russian its called "Shashlik" [basically original shashlik was meant to be made from lamb i think but we Russians love our porky shashlik hehe ]

Noooo its a totally different thing
Barbecue usually uses preproduced coal, for "mangal" to work properly <for best taste> you have to burn loads of wood, to obtain natural coals. And ontop of that barbecue uses a cage or wateva its called, "mangal" requires those thingys i showed in one link hehe i dont know what they are called in english

And Ivan is right - Shashlik is TEH YUM. Love it. ... I prefer the cancerfree version with regular BBQ coal, though.
