Best SB template for RvR

With the exciting posibility of respec one day, I would like to hear from any SB's that are currently having fun in RvR, and what templates they are using currently and if/how/why they will respec to make an uber RvR SB....

I wont post the best RvR template as its all over the VN boards... spend some time and get confused. This is RPG and that presumes that every character is unique.... besides i despise cloning... as soon as respec kicks in expect to see ' Mr Azal ' clone, Mr Sinister clone etc. Pahlease, work out the template and decide what you want your character to be.. and as someone said no matter how uber your specs are its how you play your char that really matters.

So in order of sportsmanship i hereby post this : ' a guide to gimp your SB'

1. Spec in LA to 50
2. Spec Axe to 50
3. Spec envenom to 50

Rest of the points stick in Sword.

when you RvR use a doublehanded sword and forget to buy venoms... and yeah dont forget to not train stealth, its useless.

50 venom may be a viable option for assasin. We have to wait and see what alchemy has to offer us, but if its even half as good as i imagine, i`m sure we'll see at least plenty of nightshades running with maxed venom and viper.
Maxed weapon is a good thing I`m currently 32+8 thrust, going for 50 natural
50 LA - well, i`m not that familiar with sbs, but imo after LA nerf it is viable too

So you have to admit Ivan - there is no way to gimp assasin, other that leave stealth low

And no i left to play in alb because i thought Infiltrator is a wicked class to play, and all in all i got tired of Mid environment... but thats all in past.

Hmmm Infil vs SB argument is old and depends not only on spec but on skill of both players involved.. i say play the class you enjoy playing as.

Bluddy hell, I only wanted peoples input as to what they are using and how well it works in RvR, the VN boards do have a stack of "how to make an SB" posts... thats true, but they are confusing and are often just echoing opinions of one or two people.

Sorry Nobrot for hijacking your thread but the SB template has been discussed all over the place....Frankly it got to the extent that people who have high level SBs dont even bother posting same stuff anymore. Can you imagine having to post it once every couple of weeks< if you scroll back im sure youll dig something up >, but other than that i wont be of any help and sorry for that... I despise cloning and cloned chars... thats my 2 pence....

Take a closer look at SB subclasses ie Zerker, Soulblade and Critblade .... then decide for yourself if you want to make a char that relies on PA a lot <implying missed PA = death> very famous template right now for SB, or you wanna make a char that would be a sneaky zerker ... Noone can tell you which is best but imho Critblades are the way to go, get a partner or two and imagine what the damage output will be like from 2-3 PAs coming from Critblades.

I know 'oneshot and stay stealthed' thing gets nerfed but still.

Thanks Mattshanes, I know it is a well hammered subject.. I am hovering between critblade and 5 spec, for those even remotely interested (and probably a more suitable place for SB posts) , heres a good stealther site...

CS points raise your dmg cap, but the lvl39 CS Style ain't worth it imo. 39 in LA gives you a style in an evade chain that stuns your opponent, with fast weapons you can do the evade chain all over again if you're lucky.
I personally found it a lot easier to kill single opponents with dualwield than with a 2handed weapon.
And you still can use a 2handed if you're sure you can one-shot them (or just want to give it a try)

My little kobold at lvl 50 will have these spec:

35 stealth
35 envenum
44 LA
43 axe
10 CS

with items and RR5 stealth and envenum hits 50...

10 in CS is ok..start with BSII(breaks pbt+have a short stun), then Snowsquall/Icy Brilliance..most casters will be dead now, if not they are running away screaming like a little pig

My Norse semi Hoster clone will be:

39 Axe (Good base damage)
39 Left Axe (Gets me DF, Comeback and Frosty Gaze)
34 CS (gets me PA and CD)
36 Stealth (50 Stealth possible with +11 itema and RR4)
30 Env (Autotrain stealth to 32 got me extra point in Env)

this guy can survive melee fights if he misses his PA as he has LA styles to fall back on, tho if he has to hit and run, he wont get a kill as he will have weak poisons.

36 Stealth (auto trained till 40)
38 Envenom
44 Critical Strike

With rr3 and items all 4 of these will hit 50.

I can hurt people pretty bad.. these last couple of weeks i lost a lot of confidence coz the albs in emain are totally l33t. Well it's not gonna put me off playing.. not until my subscription runs out in a month, anyway

Just a thought...people saying "I'll auto my stealth till 40"... um...you do realise, that you will ABSOLUTELY SUCK in the BG's, and will pretty much move like a snail up till that point in sneaking, and will also be destealthed by mobs a mile away...not to mention, will be torn apart by enemy assassins?

That's just my view. It's oh so easy to write it down on paper...just try play it for real. Were I to play an SB, I'd probably go for a critblade that auto trained stealth to 20. I didn't do any auto-training with my infil, and don't really care.

My infils final stats should be (ok ok...so this is an SB thread. )

CS 50, Env 39, Stealth 39, Thrust 34, DW 23.

I guess, with a little auto-trained in there, my SB would come to pretty much the same, maybe a little less Env.

From personal experience ---> tried autotraining stealth.. originally planned to train it till 30 ... gave up at 25.

And B you wont believe what people will do just to get that 20+ points extra skill points.
People still treat this as a Board game where numbers rule <which is certainly the case> thus they will deny themselves BGs abd RvR just to get there in the end... Rather sad but hey thats Fair play.

I autotrained stealth till 32 and never had a problem using Backstab to open and even now to use PA to open.

Currently level 38 with 20 base stealth and +7 from items, never fail to get off a PA on mobs, I dont plan to go to the frontiers till 45+ anyway.

However my build allowed me to not concern too much with stealth, having 3/4 LA spec means I can melee low yellows ok without ant CS opener atm

40 stealth? Are you on drugs?

Bear with me here.. +11 from items = easy. So that's 39 stealth max. Then add in maybe +2 or +3 from RR (+2 is easy, +3 is quite tough). So now you're talking about... 36 or 37 stealth at most.

Really is no need for anything more than this in any assassin class character unless you have points to burn (and you especially don't as a shadowblade).

Also, you're completely missing out on any decent DoT's with that envenom number. Envenom is the hardest of all the skills to max out, but when you do, it is very rewarding (or so i've been told, I still need to get my epic armour to hit 50 envenom).

Certainly the level 45 DoT poison does about 60-70 damage per tic (that's six tics per application i think) on a yellow con. That's equivalent of 360 damage - not too shabby eh?

Well if i gonna have 39 stealth i may aswell go for 40 for the extra safety fall and camillo has lv50 and no one finds him besides i think that template is ok and so do the lv50 shadowblades i have spoken to.
