Just been looking at some old ticket stubs whilst having a clear out, man I've seen some shit bands hehe

So whats everyone's 3 best live gigs theyve been to:

mine are:

The Prodigy
Therapy
Ice T's Bodycount tour

Maybe not the best music, but definitely the best experience.......

Therapy gigs particularly memorable for being my first attempt at crowd surfing and seeing the guy in front of me pogo into someone then leap away and leave his nose ring and a chunk of his nose tangled in the other guys hair OUCH........

U2 in Dublin.

Ocean Colour Scene @ Glasto.

Those stand out as 2 of the best performances I have seen and OCS used to be my favourite live performance until U2 did the business in their hometown and combined with pleny of :drink: they were excellent.

Saw in Jan-March
The Libertines (I met pete and went back with a couple fans to his flat, he cooked for us and we just chilled for a few hours at his, very sincre and not anything like what the tabloids portrays him as, just a man with problems, like everyone else we have our faults.),
ArcadeFire (they in true respect to the fans, made their exit through the entrance, after an exhauting show, they jumped into the crowd, with a single drum being played, slowly walked thru the crowd into the foyer and signed shirts and CD's and just generally gave so much back to the crowd for their support and encouragement),
TheMusic (Very nice guys, their PA was pwwwwwwoaaaar, uhm yeah pretty cool guys, think it was liverpool uni they played, same night as Haven and BadlyDrawnBoy lo.. ;/ ),
Interpol (My fave band and have been wanting to see them for so long, I finally did, seen them 3 times now and each show has got better, might just be the fans / audience or the venue but they sound better everytime)
TheSubways (Still new, saw them in a small venue with about 100 people, very good and personal gig, they rocked \m/ )

I'll say the best gigs are from artists still in their early years of promotion, small gigs, if you come to bristol anytime, try look and see whats on at the Louisiana, very good venue, alot of unknown bands kinda explode there and get signed very quickly, i.e SnowPatrol, but small packed rooms, where the band don't have to work the crowd so hard becuase there is very little expectation seems so much more natural, sometimes it's nicer to see a band live before you see them have to generate this rock`n`rock style attitude to conform with whats expected from bands today.

Im not into slipknot or anything, but @ roskilde 2004, sadly, replacing Bowie, they did hell of a show, cant say if they're good or bad live, but there they delivered one of the most pumped concerts at that festival

ok what cred i had might go here but.

Bon Jovi at old trafford was a wonder full gig,
band was great but some thing wont forget was in the warm up,
bit of background tunes Oasis came one and the hole place just sang along,
the support band looked scared then lol.

Terriovision at a small place in bradford when they was still newish, was a small mosh pit kinder thing remember the bloody nose i got for it :)

and the Kaiser Chiefs befor they hit it big at the Jacobs well in leeds,
got to be one of the best bands i seen live Ricky the main singer gives his all and more to the crowd (well there was about 25ish of us) but was a top night and only cost £5alos stood at the bar few mins later chatting with them .

also seen some real crap as well but maybe for another thread

Therapy? and Slayer, who've both been commented on...

Pantera

NIN

both at Manchester (G-mex and Apollo, in that order; Manchester gigs tend to have good sound systems and an enthusiastic audience, imo)

where's the 'gigs I wish I'd been at' thread? or was I just missing that??

Greenday @ The Point in Dublin
Foo Fighters @ The Olympia Theatre in Dublin
Rammstein @ Manchester Apollo

Rammstein gig was good fun...almost lost my eyebrows when they started shooting flames out of pretty much everything on stage! Some of the flames were going back about 20ft over the audience's heads!

Oh...and then they brought out a little inflatable boat and some some "Crowd Kayaking" in it :)

1. The cure - Glast 1990 :worthy: 2. The Cult - Southampton 85/86 memories a bit foggy on the exact year - was just after the 'Love' album.
3. Foo Fighters - saw them in 1997 whilst working in Seattle.

One of the most memorable concerts I went to was in 1990. I had to travel to a place called San Jose Dos Campos in brazil, Embraer build aircraft there. Middle of bloody nowhere! On second leg of the journey from Rio to Sau Paulo on a Varig B737 I found myself sitting 2 seats abreast of Eric Clapton and next to his manager. He was due to headline a concert in Rio the following week. This was just after the news about Stevie Ray Vaughn's death in a helicopter that Clapton was also supposed to be on. Speaking to his manager I said I was sorry to hear about the Stevie and that I hoped the concert on Saturday went well. I ended up with free backstage pass and an invite to the party afterwards.

I finished work in San Jose 2 days ahead of schedule (worked my arse off with 16 hour days) and got back to Rio in planty of time for the concert. Bloody amazing night. The flight back to Rio was rebooked to get me there on time. The airline was Rio Sul and the airplane only has seats for 8 pax with in flight service being a thermos of coffee handed back from the cockpit :)

Great memories of Rio and teh ladies there :)

Sepultura - Hammersmith 1989 or 1990 i think on the Arise tour.
Polyphonic Spree - Shepards Bush 2004
