This is really directed towards the ISDN users among us as I'm getting it installed in a week :D

I need some advice on the best ISP for gaming with ISDN, I'm only willing to spend 15 squid p/m.

I'm currently with NTLWorld but they don't support it. Thanks.

I use freeserve, although it's leet for qw It seems to be no good for q3.
If ure a hardcore q3'er id recommend an ip which supports software compression (No Surftime ISP's support compression) of some kind.. unfortunatly i dont know which isp's do...

Its a little more expensive for home highway/ISDN users, your rental goes up to 119.99 a quarter, then on top of freeserves charges too. Is what im on at the minute, but to be blunt, freeserve is quite hard to get onto in the first place, but its actually ok speed wise
pity it cuts you off whenever the fook it likes : well, doesnt even cut you off like a decent isp : it just lags you out :/

Demon Interent are the nuts. They allow you to adjust which type of compression you have enabled, to set your timeout limit, turn on/off IP compression, the use of SMTP or POP3 mail and have an excellent tech support team.

Bit more expensive than most though. They use BT's Surftime for their unmetered solution and charge £11.75 themselves. They're going to be offering ADSL in August too.

I've used freeserve time unlimited/anytime for a good while now and have no complaints at all. Sure, sometimes at 7pm onwards it may take a few redials but as isdn dials so quickly it only takes a few seconds to get connected. Only snag with it is the routing out of the UK isnt as good as an 0845 dialup, but on BW and jolt where i spend most of my time it's very solid.

Don't forget as well, if you're looking to keep HomeHighway for a while (ie more than a year) and you've gone for the cheaper installation but £40 a month deal, you are only tied into that for a year. I found myself not using the £13 of calls a month included in that £40 so now im using the £27 a month rental with no call allowance, much nicer :)

I agree with [TD]Shadow, Demon are the mutts nuts! I've used ISDN for just over two years and I find Demon (www.demon.net) give me the best connection to most servers in the UK. However, it does cost a bit more most.

Alternatively, I'm also with PlusNet (www.plus.net) on their Friaco Connect 7 service and I find a single channel (64k) quite often gives me a ping of about 70-90 ms on BW Q3F servers. Quite acceptable I find.

Dad.

Well I decided to give BT Anytime a go ;)

I actually find it really good, getting steady ping of 50-65 on most servers.
