well, the Best Game Ever thread has been done to death thousands of times. but what about worst game ever?

my initial thoughts would probably be:
Mario Paint (snes)
Hexen (n64)
mechwarrior 3 (pc)
pirates vikings knights b1 (hl mod)

and the most fun i have ever had playing any multi-player game ever has to be sci hunt on lan (3,000,000 scientists, one cunt running about with a needle)

(and if anyone gives me shit about this not being the general forum etc etc blah blah, at least im not talking about fuckin wrestling)

Well, the search goes ever onwards, but its hard to find a game better at the moment for me than CS Im afraifd to say. I wander into lots of different stuff - Im currently investigating SoF2- but for me the model articulations, the realism of the guns etc means cs is still there, with DoD nipping at its heels.
For pure reaction skills type games I love Q3, RA3 etc too , they are so underated these days.
But all time best game ever ? Well... nothing, nothing ever held my concentration like Quake 2. I played that game in single player, plus the 2 mission packs, then online for years and years. So much so that I cant even bear to look at it any more !

Worst game ever?
hmm
ive played some shit games in my time....

....id say
"the great space race" - ZX Spectrum 1984
http://www.morespec.freeserve.co.uk/g/greatspacerace.zip
(yes its public domain, ive checked)
or "rise of the robots" Mega drive - Snes - PC (all sucked)

they were truly bad, but they get my vote purely because they were hyped to hell and back before their releases and they were both incredibly pitiful. Also they were never sent to magazine to review before they hit the shops (BAD)

The gamer learnt a lesson with these games, NEVER BUY A GAME UNLESS YOU KNOW ITS GOOD!

anyone played Over-Board on the PS1?

Not sayin its the worst, but the best thing about it was the sound it made when your changed some settings, 'ohhh ahhh'

only got good with 4 people

As much as I now hate it, I gotta say EverQuest.

No other game has kept me playing for 3 years, and I'd probably still be playing it now if I hadn't sold my account.

What about worst game that you actually bought
Some games I've bought because of good reviews or I want to try out the genre but I've hardly ever played

1. Driver - fun just for driving in freemode but when it came to trying the actual game I found it so boring and easy to fail that I could never be bothered to pass the test
2. Call to Power - tbh i bought it but it never felt like civ so i gave up
3. Quake- just didn't like it...much preferred Duke Nukem (never bought it....just coped with the shareware)
4. Total Annihilation- never really got into it
5. Home Alone on the Amiga...If anyone managed to complete that they must have had the unbugged version

Some good games there but I still don't like them

I also happened to own a CD-i which probably had the worst games ever but so few people bought them that you've probably never heard of them....if you have Earth Command was absolutely poo on a stick unplayable

Over the years I've come to realise that i'm only any good at space flight sims X-wing Tie fighter, Turn based games Civ and management games like Transport tycoon (possibly my all time favourite game...ahhh don't say saddo its POWER and Wealth that I crave) sim city and rollercoaster tycoon....i've enjoyed the sims but decided not to buy it because i know i'd just get addicted

Have to say the only shooter I really enjoyed was Half life (up until the end where it just went abit bizarre)

Wolfenstein, Doom, Dune 2, Starsiege, Crazy Cars 3, Aces Over the Pacific.

All those games were imho very important developements in their genre.

CC3 still hasnt been bettered :/
well maybe in pure racing gameplay it has, but not in the whole game, ie parts acquisition, skill levelled races for differing cash etc.

Worst game I ever bought was Elite 2 (frontier) for the PC. I enjoyed the original so much, I thought the next version would be even better. How silly of me, it was shite.

Mind you, why doesn't somebody ressucitate the Elite universe, and create a multiplayer gaming experience out of it? Unlimited players?

Now that would be VERY cool.

I've played a lot of really, really bad games in my time, but a couple stand out from the rest.

Red Alert 2 - probably the single worst game I've ever played. I mean, Tiberian Sun was bad, but RA2 was just an insult. Shite graphics, crap acting in the cutscenes and gameplay significantly worse than that in Dune2.

Star Wars: Force Commander - The game which, for me, marked the end of the general 0wniness of the Star Wars games and the beginning of their degeneration into a horde of mindless console-kiddy ripoffs.

Pools of Radiance 2 - AD&D rules games can be fun, as the BG games and NWN prove, but there's such a thing as laying them a bit too heavily on the player and this game is utterly tedious as a result of that. Oh, it's also bugged to hell and back.

Starsiege: Not to be confused with Starsiege: Tribes, which rocked. Totally sub-standard mechwarrior clone, considerably worse than the EarthSiege games that came before it.

Monkey Island 4: Yes, I know the earlier Monkey Island games were great, but I hated this one. Stupid jokes for the most part, with the only good ones being recycled from the previous games. Horrible 3d engine that looked worse than the 2d animations in the third game and terrible clipping.

Delta Force 2: I bought this on the basis of the pretty box screenshots. They must have been "touched up" to hell and back, because the hideous voxel engine only ever looked chunky, blocky and ugly to me.

Quake 3: I'm sorry, but it's shite :p

For what it's worth, I did play the game that you would most expect to see on this list, namely Daikatana. However, contrary to popular belief, it was just mediocre, rather than truly awful and actually became fun at times in the 2nd episode :)

My thoughts exactly. But it was one of the few games I have taken back...mainly because I was skint at the time

It was nice looking though :)
