Far too much boring schmindie rock this year, goddammit why can't students get a taste in music. The few gems released this year were :-

N*E*R*D - Fly or Die
The Streets - A Grand Don't Come For Free
High Contrast - High Fidelity
Prodigy - Always Outnumbered Never Outgunned
Andy C - Nightlife 2

When I heard Peter Tägtgren was going to take over Mikael Åkerfeldts job as a singer I never thought Tägtgren could sound like that.
Have to say I like the new album better than the old.

Tätgren has never recorded a better vocalsession imo. It just proves how good Dan Swanö is with producing it and doing the backing growl. Great stuff.

Well for me I think there has'nt been much that made me very impressed this year, most stuff feelt like it was a rehash of old albums for me. Well here we go.

Cult Of Luna - Salvation
I can hear alot of Neurosis and Isis in there latest album, which for me is just dandy since new Neurosis didnt really stick with me. Guess I miss the more themathic sound of a "Sun that never sets".

Orphaned Land - Mabool
Anyone that know me know that I get really bored with music fast and always tend to like alternative sounding stuff. Well something about Mabool made me listening to it over and over. Dunno what it is.

Dunno there's alot of stuff I could list that are kickass albums but I just end up comparing em to earlier efforts and then they pale. An example is Nasum's latest that is way outdone by Helvete.

Well lets hope 2005 gives albums that are alot more interesting.

I disagree, a fantastic year for music. Arcade Fire & The Go! Team are clear winners, and the rest are in no particular order.

1. Arcade Fire - Funeral
2. The Go! Team - Thunder, Lightning, Strike
3. The Hidden Cameras - Mississauga Goddamn
4. The Magnetic Fields - I
5. Bloc Party - E.P
6. Brian Wilson - Smile
7. Adem - Homesongs
8. The Shins - Chutes Too Narrow
9. The Walkmen - Bows & Arrows
10. Morrissey -You are the Quarry
11. Sons & Daughters - Love the Cup (EP, but it's quality!)
12.The Streets - A Grand Don't Come for Free
13. Mclusky -The Difference Between you and me is i'm not on fire
14.Madvillain - Madvillainy
15.The Earlies - These Were The Earlies
16.The Concretes - The Concretes

Good albums i haven't guven enough air time too yet: Death From Above 1979 - you're a woman, I'm a machine, the fiery furnaces - blueberry boat, joanna newsom - the milk eyed mender, animal collective - sung tongs, Wolf Eyes - Burned Mind.

*Edit* stick franz ferdinand in there too, somewhere.

Saw Morrissey last night at Birmingham and he was fucking brilliant, didn't like YATQ much but after hearing some of the tracks last night live it's grown on me - Irish Blood, English Heart is bloody good live. Hope you enjoy the gig ¦D

Holy feck someone here listens to the go team!)
I havent really given that album that much of a shot and i was supposed to see them live but got to drunk and lazy.

The power is on with the go team might however be one of the top 3 songs of the year imo.
Very nice albums picked too. Similiar taste really

Agreed, it's been one of the worst years for music since the 80s. No one has really come onto the scene and done anything more than re-hash the same old same-old.

Best of the lot - Scissor Sisters. No question about it. And it's not even as if they did anything particularly groundbreaking. 'A Grand Don't come for Free' grew on me in the end. Still reckon it's a step backwards from the debut album though.

Miserable fucker, eh? :)

Really kickass. Watch the DVD on the legacy edition in the beginning. Try to hear the sentences "Music is endless" "I guess its called freedom" without laughing. And the video with the monkeys stealing his bike is awesome.

Blonde Redhead - Misery is a butterfly
Enon - Hocus Pocus
Helmet - Unsung (i know best-ofs shouldn't count but it is really good, a pity the new album is crap)
Ween - Quebec

Edit:
And in 2004 I finally found a replacement copy of 'Yank Crime' By Drive like Jehu so Ill put that in there as well. Best Emo album before Emo became shit.
I suppose the new sonic youth album is a prospect but havent heard it yet..
