I'd need to know your CPU before advising.

Or you could go for Voodoo1 and about 40 bottles of Budweiser. You wont know the difference.

Well thats my choice anyway.

How about a pair of voodoo2s...? PC world were selling them for about 50 quid, but I could be imagining it...

Seeing as I already have one though, I could get quite a few bottles too...

Get a Hercules 16meg TNT2 - clocked almost as high as an Ultra TNT2 by nvidias own specs and hence very fast with many more modern features than the V3 and it fits nicely into your 100 quid bracket... but the beer option still sounds nice...

Yeah, nice one LizardKing

That's the suggestion to go for.

I'm using a v1 in Q3 and doing quite good until the server gets saturated with lpb's.

I've now seen a V770 for £116inc vat? Is there a better deal than this? And my cpu is a p2 266 for the person who asked.

It seems m8 that the Hercules Ultra TNT2 is the best card at the mo, although the G400 MAX does appeal

If u have enuff PCI slots tho, the 2 V2's in SLI as mentioned earlier would be v nice and they are about 45 squids each.

Failing that wait for the Voodoo 3 4000 l8r this year, with 32-64 megs, 32 render and Z-buffering it shall be v nice

Up to u tho m8, how far off is the birthday?

266MHz... actually a bit slow. A TNT2 is quite CPU heavy and is recommended on 400MHz plus systems... so id now say a V3... V3 3000 oem's are about 90 quid. Go for that. It would be faster than a TNT2 on your system.

Yup with that processor don't even think about the G400, I have a TNT2 16M, but I wouldnt get one with that processor either.
Best bet as last post is to go for the V3 for sure.

d00d - kill the g400 > i only advise getting one of those if you have a 19" or larger monitor, they are only any cop at high resolutions, wait a while for the next gen cards (nv10 whatever it is and v4)

OK, thx ppl, erm i have read what u said, but would there be really nothing to gain for spendin 20 quid more to get the 110 quid V770? Rather than the V3, which has a lot less features all round, esp when u leave q2.

G400 MAX 90 quid where, where , where!!!

No comments on TNT2 etc, aint owned one dont intend on, 32bit colour etc, would you really notice how b34utiful graphix are when your legging it round in quake, u dont have time to take in the scenary.
oem v3 wont come with unreal tournament(or fifa 99, or the 10YEAR!!! warranty, asif we gonna be usin one then rofl) only downer, but the cards do overclock nicely(think the same clock % the same performance gain), if your into that "shit", note glide is 'dying' tho, and 3dfx opengl aint that hot atm, so it aint one to future proof your PC..

Also, have you thought about upgrading or clocking your 266, suppose you have an unlocked one (which u can change the clock multiplyer on), lucky sod. Say for instance u have one of the asus LX motherboards, the front side bus went up to 100mhz on them if i remember correctly...celeron 366....550....mmmmm.

Thoughts. Personally its a hard call m8. If you can save the money, fair enuff, wait a while save more money etc, some hot cards around the corner, and u seem to get more power for less money at each new product.
*remebers paying 230 quid for a v2, slaps head!"£$"!*

G400'a (all types) £95 in SMC this month - however - there will be £10 p&p (I think) and you'll have to get it this month cause the TNT Ultra went from 145 to 175 in a month with them.

Kais: The TNT2u wouldn't give you anything over the V3 unless you're gonna be getting a new CPU some time soon. Save your dosh and get the V3 3k.

Whatever you do I guarantee that as soon as you buy a new card somthing better will be on the shelf a week later. Just don't be a tight ass like me and go for a Voodoo Banshee 'cause they're cheap. They're also pants ;-p

No - don't get a TNT2 with yer CPU! get a V3 - 2k/3k - the others (TNT2/G400) are too CPU dependant. Don't worry about the lack of features - i got a v3 3k, and im happy with it.

Get a Voodoo 3.

Now.
