Hi , just a couple of zerker questions. When do u get the ability to shapeshift? What are the pros & cons of the available races to play a zerker? and how best to boost starting stats?

Thanks

PS i know about the zerker DF nerf, however as ive been playing a gimped warrior class on alb dont spose it matters. i already have a skald, dont fancy a warrior class and have pld a thane so fancy playing zerker. Any info would be great 8)

- you get your gerbilmorph at 5 afaik with berserk I

- Classes

troll

high str slightly higher con-> hit hard and a few more hp BUT you sacrifice tons of dex (parry & evade) and qui

dwarf

high con -> more hp BUT less dex (parry & evade) and qui

norse

overall -> well errr overall :)

Important stats are str, dex and con (not necessarily in that order)

ps : i dont know why people still roll zerks, taking into account you all know what's coming.

pps : dont give me that "i play an albion gimped warrior"-crap there's no such thing

Stats:
str - as zerk is dmg machine, this is surely the most important stat
con - never hurts ;)
dex - useful only for solo exp
qui - never put anything it this stat! It reduces style damage.

So u should put 10 str 10 con 10 dex.

Races:
Troll is the best (max str and minimum qui), dwarf is also good (more hp but less dmg).
Norseman is ugly for zerk.

Norseman is ugly for zerk.

well we do get the most dex which gives us a small advantage to evade/parry (and since df isnt viable anymore and you "need to use more reactive styles" this might be of some importance)

Related question , if i choose a troll and want to try skald should i put points in cha, str, con or cha, qui as i presume as they already have high str, con it will cap at some point?

Thanks

I dont think stats cap by normal levelling. (correct me if im wrong )

str and cha are primary stats for a skald and you should most definatly put points into that .

I don't see the point of putting points into qui so you got con and dex left . Personally i would put em into con though

@ asphalt :

"qui - never put anything it this stat! It reduces style damage. "

heard this from various people. how does it work?

Sure, if u see that u evade/parry often while fighting pepole of ur lvl. Personally, I dont see it often and dont think that 20-30 dex will change something.

It increases spd, but decreases dmg-bonus u get from styles -> u will loose endurance faster.

that for pvp. pvp fights usually last really short and (what i experienced) after 1-4 hits one is down (except when some friggin armsmen parries your df all the time :) )

In pve however i did some tests with a troll zerk at the same level and I evaded/parried a whole lot more then he did (we were testing on yellow and bluecon mobs) which does make a difference ( frosty gaze gets you 2 free df's in).

Yep, if u are making a perfect soloPvE-zerk, then u should start 44/44/44 norsman. But if u wanna kill some cans or green tree worms in RvR, u should go 50/50/28 and start a troll or a dwarf, coz sometimes 30+ extra damage does matter ;)

Dex also effects how often you score a critical hit. Quickness effects evade/parry and a higher quickness increase damage over time. However, as Asphalt said, it also lowers styles damage, which is important to a zerk. For pure offence, which makes since for a berserker a troll is the most logical choice.

If you look at the US servers you will see that some of the top zerkers are indeed norse, but trolls and dwarfs are also present. The disadvantage of being a troll is that the enemy will directly recognize you and assume that you are a fighter, and hence you will be high on their “whom to mez/stun/nucke first list”. As a big troll you are also easiest to target with the mouse.

I went with norse for my zerker alt, who is level 32 now. My main reason for going norse was that I wanted something different. My main at the time was a troll. So far I’m pleased with the choice.
