Several casters were getting hit for 1k+ damage (myself included) and going down in one hit from arrows shot by rangers. We weren't sat down or anything so surely this can't be right? Some sort of bugged bow?

Anyway, had alot of fun anyway even though us albs all got slaughtered at the end

If it was rangers there is a bugged bow out there (check recent news posts on offical site) - if you suspect something wrong take logs and report it. Best way to deal with it IMO.

/edit I'm pretty sure GOA have tagged the bow unwieldable untill they can fix it - doesn't stop anybody with it already equiped from using it though.

nah just crit shots

I dunno if you were attacking/defending but if you were defending, for attacking archers it is really easy to hold a crit shot and then wait for a caster to appear at the edge of the battlements and let fly, esp when 5 other scouts have the same idea it tends to end up that, the caster is dead

the bug bow wasn't like that, the bug was that it hit for like 250~ dmg .. but no matter what it reduced the targets life by 99% in that hit.. so a 2nd hit always killed. So bein hit for 1k~ dmg is not that bug.

Didn`t Sinister have a bugged bow many moons ago, or was it one of those DAoC through the grapevine things, I heard it fired a 7.62 round and could kill you before you logged on .

I was on that keep defense and landed my critshot a number of times at casters/scouts standing still. Hit damage cap, 1k+ a couple of times. Nothing weird or buggy about that.

that'd be the bow of fire. lowish dps, but had double the range of normal bows (so beyond clip range). oddly goa never made that bow unequipable.... must be a hib-only thing

Fair enough if it was crit hits, but on the many keep attacks ive been on, ive never seen so many people go down in a single hit from an arrow so it seemed strange.

Nevermind anyway, was just wondering if there was a problem bow about :-P

Albs usaly dont have many scouts at keep defenses. At the odd alb keep defense there are more hunters than scouts. As an archer it usaly just needs an archer on the other side to supress your fire and render you unable to attack.

I ready a crit staying stealthed and wait for the enemy archer to pop. As soon as he unstealthes he gets a crit on him. Even if absorbed by pbt it will render the enemy unable to fire a 2nd shot. Due to the weird LOS check on bows I'll get a 2nd shot off most of the times even if the enemy jumps back behind the battlements. If he doesnt have pbt this results in a seriously injured scout. If there was a 2nd hunter doing the same the scout is dead most times.

If there are more archers defending than attacking its a totaly different story. It is nearly impossible for hunters to take them out since you get hit by 2 or more crit shots as soon as you unstealth to fire. The hunter will most likely end up eating dirt.

The only valid tactic to counter archers on the battlements when they outnumber your archers is gtae/ae. A single gtae caster can supress people up there pretty good. However he will have to deal with volley after a very short time so you better assign a warrior to him.

i was there last nite (Runsya) and i was crit shotting mages for 500 ish , and getting DoT`d whilst sat naer lord ?? , i was bein hit by same person for 400 every 2 seconds, was gettin kinda fecked off, then when the minstrel climbed the wall, i blew a fuse.

Yaz, nasty rangers, i was standing up and got hitt for 900 dmg by luri ranger's at Beno, my 2180 hp was down in 3 arrows... sick shit.

Why are still people out there thinking archers have a dmg modifier vs sitting targets? The 3x dmg modifier was removed with patch 1.39! That was about 2 months after DAoC was released in Europe.

I was refering to people who said "I was standing up and got hit for blablabla..." as if they are expecting archers to do more damage to sitting targets. Infact our miss/fumble rate vs sitting targets was increased in some patch after the damage modifier was removed and never toned down again.
