Saudi Arabia, so it's NO and NO (unless I want to lose some of my extremities).

The Totty is a no-no anyway, as I'd lose all of my dangly bits once the wife found out (and she would!).

Always thot of going out there for some "relaxation"

Tradition there is that the women all run after you hand & foot.

ello,

I used to live in Dubai. It's a totally different kettle of fish to Saudi but in general the Middle East is a nice place to live. Places like Iraq and co aren't top of my 'places I want to go list' but most of the more urm, cosmopolitan (for lack of a better word) places are cool places to live.

The only 'issues' I had living there were during Ramadan - not being allowed to eat in front of people during the day was a bit irritating. Having said that, at the end of the day you're living in their country, so you have to respect their culture. Surprisingly enough terrorists weren't top of my 'worry list.' Dunno who said that but they're obviously either a) uneducated b) a twat c) both. Probably c.

It was dan2000, hence my reply of "twat". Having said that he is a rather naive young chap, so he can be excused for believing fairy stories and propaganda/stereotypes.

As-salaam alaykum

Greetings from an Internet cafe in Jeddah (12 systems sharing what seems to be a 33.6 connection).

Having a surprisingly agreeable time. I shouldn't really be surprised, as the Arab tradition of hospitality is well known.

One thing that struck me, was the unreserved friendliness of people I meet. I've learnt a few words of Arabic, which always gives a good impression. I reflect on how we in the UK treat people from foreign climes, and I wonder which is the civilised country.

Very hot, even at 10pm (now), and everything stops 5 times a day for prayers. I'm still getting used to taking a siesta in the afternoon, but I'll never get used to the traffic (once a light turns green, you have 0.0005ms to go before people behind start honking!). Indicators seem to be a matter of personal preference, and lane changing still gives me nightmares.

No work today as it's friday, but back to work tomorrow.

Seeya
