Beefquake and Q2ace

Can you use beefquake on servers with Q2ace installed? is it considered as a cheat, and if so, are you permently banned or just kicked?

q2ace is not a server it's a client side quake2 exe replacement (as is beefquake).

you may be confusing q2ace only servers which run a version of q2admin that enforces q2ace to be used by the client. in this case you are only kicked from the server or prevented from joining until you are using a valid copy of q2ace that meets the server admins requirements. you are not banned.

there are not many q2ace only servers in the world so it's safe to say that you could continue to use beefquake2 to try and connect to servers. afaik barrysworld servers do not enforce q2ace except occasionally in their leagues (when they're running ).
