Tbh some cgi is awesome I mean 300 and sin city were fantastic but is it just me or does anyone else miss the days when you saw a special effect and knew someone had actually planned and physically done that stunt or the monsters were actually real? (I mean tangible not alive). If done well animatronics kick CGIs arse imo.

Thats why I really enjoy old action movies because there really was someone doing those stunts they wern't just stood infront of a green screen or digitally animated, though nowerdays even stunts that were death defying look tame because of the stuff that we see CGId

its sad really :( <-- see, sad.

If you want an action film without CGI or wires, watch "Ong Bak".
Ong-bak (2003)

It's Thai so expect a lot of Muay Thai fighting. What's good about it is that you can tell the main actor does his own stunts and choreographed fighting. The scene I liked most of all was when the main character's legs are ON FIRE and he's still fighting.

Films with what I consider awesome CGI:
Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring (The scene with Balrog was EPIC).
Pirates of the Caribbean (Skeletons walking across the seabed)
Starship Trooper blends animatronic and CGI VERY well IMO.

*cough* :D

I thought it was "fine enough" as a lower budget comic film. It's no marvel megamovie, but with Milla and some nice action scenes, it's not a complete waste of time.

*hugs his milla collection box*

wasnt the greatest film and some poor poor acting by some them at times... but with that said it wasted some time and wasnt wholely unentertaining due to a few decent scenes in it so didnt feel completely bad about watching it.

Watch the series "Ultraviolet" (nothing to do with the movie) - Jack Davenport, Susanna Harker and Idris Elba - very very stylish - made in about 2000.

ABSOLUTELY!
I got this on DVD boxset as soon as it came out. I consider it one of the best british made TV series of 1998.

+rep for mentioning it.
