Every day, I drive past a dead badger on the M8 motorway, and every day it decomposes a little bit more.

Maybe it was gassed, poor thing.

Typical hysteria Im afraid.
Where I shoot they have badgers, and whilst they are very keen on lowering the rabbit population the badgers are Protected, and thats how it should be too.
