Coming next year to a PC screen near you...

EA Announce Battlefield Vietnam - Offering an arsenal of weapons and vehicles authentic to the Vietnam conflict, players will battle in first-person perspective. The workhorse vehicle for the U.S. during the conflict was the helicopter and it will serve the same purpose in Battlefield Vietnam. The NVA will be outfitted with many Russian-made vehicles including the T-54 tank and Mig-21 jet. Taking a step forward from its franchise predecessors, Battlefield Vietnam will allow passengers to fire from moving vehicles and players will have the ability to airlift other vehicles via helicopter. The game will also deploy new rendering and sound engines that will help take players deeper into the 1960’s mindset.

Vietnam bandwagon time. Bit of a problem for EOD as well. Personally I think there's so much more mileage in WWII that hasn't been touched yet (Burma & New Guinea if you want jungles, Torch, revised versions of existing battles, like a proper El Alamein with artillery from rtr, early war stuff like Dunkirk and Norway, Finland - ski troops! plus other d-day landings beside the inevitable Omaha).

personally i think the WWII "moment" has passed. The main appeal of games such as BF1942 were the "toys" that you could play with, tanks and planes etc. but I find the new stuff found in DC and also EOD more satisfying to play with.

I find normal BF much more enjoyable than DC currently - maybe its because of the unbalanced nature of DC in its current form (not tried .38, but then I havent had time to download the huge 'update'). It just seems you'll lose if you're unfortunate to land on the Iraqi side - regardless of how good you are :(

Since it means I potentially live down the road, I found it amusing.

You clearly, don't. But thanks for the comedy wink anyway! Don't worry, I won't take offence!
