For $9.99 you'll be able to download the latest booster pack to recieve three new maps, four new vehicles, seven weapons and access to two new Special Service Medals.

The battle expands in the first booster pack to 2005's hit game Battlefield 2. Take the powerful new Euro Force into action against MEC and Chinese armies as you battle for control of all-new Asian locations. The action escalates to a fever pitch with the latest high-tech vehicles and weapons including attack helicopters, battle tanks, assault rifles, and much more.

Kevin, to be honest that game is right up my street. I even bought UT2K4 just so that I could have the mod.
Two things spoiled it for me though. One was the head bob thing as Ive said, it gave me motion sickness something terrible. i cant understand why they put it on, especially as on UT2k4 you can turn it off, and on AA, the big UT2K4 mod, its not on anyway ...
The other thing was the guns. The russian guns are so bloody ugly, Moisin Nagent expected.
All the same, if you see a way of turning the bob off please gimme a shout, and ill get it in a shot :)

I think/hope Aada is joking (that or he works for EA). Yeah its a joke, they have got 2 of these small addon packs as well as the special forces one. Heres an idea, package all 3 together and release all 3 for £15. That sounds fair to me!!

Yeah three maps (only 16 man too) is not really a new game is it? I dont mind much, I can afford £5.99 in all honesty, but imo there should be new maps included in patches. I do quite like BF2 for a game, hell Im sure my opnions on the subject are well enough known so I wont persue that, however I do truly believe that EA are utter shite.

Well you don't get anything for free these days so get used to it i did along time ago.

And i won't complain about something that costs £5.99 that is going to give me months of gaming.. how long has BF2 been out now? ive played it every day since its been released. Its a fun game and has tremendous replay value.. if they want to charge less then £10 for more maps/stuff to play with then so what ?

We all knew that this game would eventually go the way of the sims, I wonder how long it will be until they think of charging people to play online. Wouldn't suprise me if it eventually happens with a battlefield title, if they charge £3 a month and the general attitude it "its only £3" then things look bleak.

The way they have released the booster has done nothing but split the battlefield community, and try to force people into purchasing it. Included the maps in the BF2 Game Variant and not giving it its own variant is a joke. Basically EA are saying if you dont purchase the 2 boosters then expect to be kicked from a server every few maps. Sure there will be some servers out there not running the maps, but you are not going to know this until you join and find you havent been kicked, bit like a needle in a haystack.

Anyone else feel less inspired by their news update about the downloader problems?.

We are aware that a small number of people are experiencing issues with the EA downloader. With that, and because we value your loyalty, we are investigating every customer service ticket we get.

This suggests to me they dont normally bother investigating every customer ticket.

I read about their latest need for speed game that there is some problem some users have and they wont be making a patch due to no time/resources.

Same company so why dont they value need for speed customer loyalty? Maybe because it has no addon pack coming and so there is no need to keep them happy... :twak:

It's no more than a mod, it's not a game. Kenny is right, having already paid for the game this stuff used to be free. That would develop a community and encourage users to buy BF3 etc. They should instead be concentrating on the base game, the coding is appalling. Since the last (1.21?) upgrade I can't connect anymore and can't be arsed finding out why. I only know because I tried for the Us/Them thing. The game is a big pile of steaming shit.

Going off topic, the free maps for CS were done by some other dev company and they have announced they are doing a project based on the source engine.

Maybe its something CS related..hmm.

EA evil. :twak:
Valve excellent.

it's only a matter of time before EA "acquire" valve for a nice sum of money. Think of the money they can make from spin off booster packs and xpacks for css.

Lets hope so. EA are mainly a publisher and atm they are bringing alot of money to the game industry which is great.. sure they aren't the best when they make games but if you want to blame people for a shit game blame the developers, not the publisher imo.

Its like people blaming Ubisoft for their crap AI in most of their games... but they forget its RedStorm entertainment that develop the GR series.

Heh, a conversation carried on in two threads :)
I truely hope not, because Steam do try to sell you games, but they also continue to back up the games you have bought. Its hard to get your head around I suppose, but CSS is easily the biggest game in the world ,fps-wise, and so many people play it that still we get new maps and updates regularly all for free.
The only game I can think of that also does that is Americas Army, another game I play, where updates and new maps come 2 or 3 times a year, all for free, and the game itself is free too. EA simply dont do that. I bought the euro thing for £5.99 because, as I said, I can afford to its niether here nor there, but in honesty I regret buying it. Mostly becuase Ive only played it twice and am unlikely to play it much more, and also because its idiots like me paying for stuff like that ,that will encourage EA to think that its ok to continue to do it. They dont back up they're games properly. Look at Medal of Honour, they sold 3 or 4 expansion packs while still never really addressing the problems encountered in the first game! In my eyes, all they want to do is sell you more stuff, and we're so gullible we fall for it.
I even bought Quake4 mind you, and Ive only played that 3 or 4 times online, and didnt even finish the first level in single player. Perhaps it really is time for me to realise that they are really just games made to make money ,and with a very short shelf-life, and I ought to simply not bother wasteing my money any more. Its that constant quest (almost always thwarted) for a game that is truely great, that really blows yer mind :) Theres not been such a thing for me since I played Q2 online, and then when I first played CS after that.
Ah well, Im bored, sorry for the long post :)

Agreed :p as long as people keep buying the games/expansions they release they know that they dont have to bother addressing shit thats wrong with the original.

Aye mate. Im seriously thinking that the Trem school of thought may have some bearing here, i.e. if your gaming, playing css, if you dont feel like gaming, do something else. Whats the point in buying all these games just to never play them!
Having said that, Trem bought BF2 because we all had it, and didnt even install it, so go figure :D
Of course the trouble with this theory is that I do play AA fairly regularly, and BF2 once a fortnight as Ive said. Oh well, maybe Ill just leave it there, until maybe one day something REALLY big come out to change the way we play games, like Q2 and CS did.
Of course, to be honest I expect WoW is actually thast very game, but I know for a fact that wont suit me. I like guns (dont know if you've noticed...) and stuff like that, wizards and stuff just isnt me. Will a game ever replace CSS from the same genre? I doubt it frankly.Except for CS2 of course...
