Thank you all so far for your votes, and the suggestions on the games you feel should have been on the lists I made; they are all appreciated. The choices that I made all took me an age to decide on and not one of them was easy as I knew that no matter what I put down there would be people with different opinions. I missed out a lot of truly fantastic games and as each round passes I know that I will omit many more, but when limited to just 10 per genre some sacrifices have to be made. In no way is this a definitive list, but I promise that I did as much research as I could on as many classic games I could. I have kept myself as unbiased as I can be. With that over it is time to announce the winner of Round 3: Half Life. As it stands now.
1) Tekken
2) Baldur's Gate
3) Half Life

And so we move on to Round 4 and one of the hardest choices I have had to make regarding games: Platformers. Our nominees are:
Bubble Bobble - Created by Taito, this saw the arrival of two cute dinosaurs by the name of Bub and Bob. Cursed by a wizard, the pair had to traverse 100 levels to reach him and be cured. Standing in their way were a collection of strange creatures. To dispatch them the duo blew bubbles that trapped the enemies and all you had to do afterwards was pop the bubble. The game lead to two direct sequels, "Rainbow Islands" and "Parasol Stars"
Castlevania - This classic has touched nearly every single gaming platform devised and is one of Konami's biggest named franchises. The game is loosely based on the book by Bram Stoker and sees the return of the infamous Dracula every 100 years. The game depicts the constant battle between the Dracula family and the Belmont family.
Crash Bandicoot - Initially considered to be the unofficial mascot of Sony, this game was one of the earliest platform games to make the transition in to 3D and became a highly popular series of games. The storyline tells of the token evil genius ("Dr. Neo Cortex") using animals in a series of mutation experiments which turned an ordinary bandicoot into the eponymous hero of the games.
Earthworm Jim - Perhaps one of the all time strangest game concepts in the world. The story line is the first bizarre moment and tells the tale of a humble earthworm transformed by a super, indestructible suit that fell from outer space. With the strangest set up of enemies (including names such as Professor Monkey-For-A-Head, Evil the Cat, Psy-Cow and Bob the Goldfish) this was one strange, but fun, game.
Manic Miner - One of the earliest platform games that was initially released way back in 1983 on the ZX Spectrum. The game took the system to it's very limits, the game pitted you as Miner Willy who stumbles on a store of an ancient civilzation and who tries to round up the treasures left behind to make his fortune.
Megaman - Going with the name "Rockman" in his homeland, "Mega Man" is one of the biggest and longest running games around and spread over numerous gaming systems. Designed to combat the devious schemes of Dr, Wily, "Mega Man" kept the same style of gameplay, that of a side scrolling platformer for many of his gaming incarnations.
Metroid - Long before it went 3D and with a whole new game style, "Metroid" was one of the biggest platforming names created by the gaming giant, Nintendo. You played the part of Samus Aran, a bounty hunter who wears a special kind of armour facing down against "Metroids", jellyfish-like creatures that could siphon energy from living organisms.
Sonic the Hedgehog - Few game characters are as well known as Sonic the Hedgehog. Despite a few trips in to other game styles, Sonic has remained a successful series 2D platform game. Despite many attempts, "Sonic the Hedgehog" has never been able to convert to a 3D environment well, but his 2D adventures live on thanks to the Nintendo GBA and DS.
Spyro the Dragon - Initially designed for the Playstation, this lovable purple dragon has found himself appearing on several gaming consoles. Partnered by a dragonfly name Sparx, Spyro has constantly had to save the Dragon World from the a variety of different bad guys (or gal in the case of Spyro's 3rd outing on the Playstation).
Super Mario Brothers - Created by Shigeru Miyamoto, "Mario" made his debut in the classic "Donkey Kong" but quickly went on to star in his own game and was joined by his brother, Luigi. Becoming the mascot for Nintendo,"Mario" went from strength to strength and finally appearing in glorious 3D.
