basic tweaks....

Hi,
I'm relatively new to gaming (well just this week really) and was wondering if you could provide me with some basic speed tweaks and updates to get my system to tip-top condition.

I have an Athlon AMD 1Ghz
and GeForce2 Pro 64MB
256MB RAM
On Windows Me

I have downloaded and installed the detonator 3 drivers and I have to say, I haven't had much of an increase in my 3DMark2001 score...

I have been to madonion.com to compare my latest score with others of the very same specs and they seem to be getting scores of upwards of 3200. How can I get this up? Is WinME sapping my resources etc etc??

Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.

Your not trying to compare 3dmark 2000 with 3dmark 2001 results by chance?

TBH 3dmark isn't always that good at giving performance figures.

don't ask Emb tho. He regards me as mad cos I consider running servers 'fun' too lol
btw, it's running now....but I discover that the M$ moro...err programmers have somehow not included support for usb heh.

nah, i realised they were completely separate last night to my dismay.
My current 2dmark is 2900.
hmmmmmmz, what can i do?

yep got 'em, not the beta ones though, yet. 7.52 or something?

I'd try removing 'em totally...installing the ones you got with your grafics card and testing _that_ to see which one is 'wrong'.
you could check your BIOS to see if you really are running agp4x. while you are in the bios, check that you really are running your dimms at 133 as opposed to 100Mhz [if you have 133 dimms that is heh]
when you're booted back up go to whoever made your motherboard on the internet and check to see if they have anything to say on the matter.
on the other hand...install w2k with the correct 2k drivers and be done with the matter
