Hey guys - can anyone give me some basic hints for a low level hunter? My kid rolled a Kobbie hunter and I'd like to try to get him some hints but I know nothing about Midgard whatsoever... in fact I know pretty much jack shit about anything these days :)

He's only very new, so some speccing hints would be useful please, and also hints on good mobs to tame and where to find them...

Thanks alot for any help,

Jup.

P.S. he doesn't play Pryd/Mid so no cries of EWUL SPYE!!!!111 please :) Just I know some of you guys and thought chances of hints were probably better here than in Excal boards ;)

for spec advice i'd go spear and bow, with the Kobbies dex and qui the spear is quite leathal so... high bow and spear. Stealth is not a great concern till around lvl 18(ish), thats if your lil dude is going to the BG's.
Time fletching is time well spent or see another hunter and ask most are quite helpfull, cos they remeber doing crap dmg with the low lvl arrows.
I'm not sure how beast craft works (i'm not a hunter. ^**^). "alittle help from someone who is, plz" although the Vale of mularn is pretty packed with mobs till around lvl 10.
This (I hope) should get the ball rolling for you, and is only a vague bit of help, but i hope it helps :)

I'd keep the bow maxed for pretty long, then alternate between spear and bc, will keep you pretty allround :)

For good soloing (and we all know rogues solo alot) till 30 or even 40 I suggest not to train stealth at all and keep bow close to your level (lvl - 1 or 2 is nice). Put the rest of your points evenly into spear and beast.
Footed Flight Broadhead arrows give you a great advantage at lower levels but are very expensive. (At lvl 10 I was able to chain red con weeping willows.)

The bow is your advantage as a hunter, so best to keep it close to your level as Jeriraa said, and getting the best arrows will make your job a lot easier, quite often fletchers will make you the arrows much cheaper than the shop (or at materials price), i know i do.
Stealth isnt really a concern until you get to RvR level, and neither is beastcraft. Usually people put beastcraft at level 6 for their exping levels. Once you get to RvR level it becomes useful for charming pets to interrupt casters with, and for those very nice AF and Dex/Quick buffs (more quickness = fire faster) but if you put it to level 6 you get an insta speed buff on a timer, good for running away from the big bad mobs. Charming mobs at low level will just steal your exp and get you aggroed (pets sometimes get a little rowdy).
Throw sword in the bin, its strength-based weapon, and since a hunter develops dexterity through buffs and levels you should stick to spear spec. Unfortunately spear spec will be neccessary for exping, and almost useless (at least it is for me) in RvR.

Generally speaking, max out bow, level 6 beastcraft, and split the rest between spear/stealth.

Any questions?
