Barrysworld dedicated server

If anyone else is interested in BW hosting a dedicated server for Freelancer then please post you interest to this thread.

To the admins, can we have confirmation of whether or not there will be a dedicated 24/7 Barrysworld server for this game once the decision has been made.

The demo of Freelancer is just superb and I think due to the simplicity of controls it'll work really well online - count me in

the multi is quite disapointing after you've got the best ship and guns and found all the trade routes. It's a totally static environment and the missions are purely combat. shame really, even elite had a dynamic economy 25 yrs ago but MS couldnt sort it out.

Ive only played multi for a few hours and I understand how it could get like this. But there is plenty of mileage in the game up to that point (presuming you dont read any spoilers).

I have to agree with Nat there, after the first 10 odd hours it gets extremely boring. You know the trade routes worth running and where the hidden weapons are and that's about it. Maybe with a lot of players it'd be more fun, but cpu power required means you can't get anywhere near as many as the game supports.

As an eternal optimist, i'm hoping they'll release a multiplayer patch which will dratically enhance the MP into a more dynamic game.

Yip, a multiplayer patch which added something like clans, factions for the clan, your own base, or at least a fluctuating trade system...

Over the weekend myself and 6 others gave the multiplayer side a good blast, about 30 hours playtime. Having reached the Nomad space, acquired Titans, and built up alot of credits, there wasn't much that could harm us (when you shoot the police around New Cambridge and sit there for 15 minutes laughing at them not being able to take your shields down...) so it can die off a bit there.

In regards to the roaming server accounts, the server profiles are stored in the My Games folder on the server machine, and transfering these to another server is possible as we found out over the weekend.

This would allow a few servers to be set up with a shared profile folder, allowing players to play across multiple servers with the same profile. I'll check when I get home if there is a registry entry for it.

Server seemed to run fine with a low spec system.

Essentially digital anvil are gonna be looking for server admins to test a server only patch to address stability and cheats.

Count me in, and in reference to improving multiplayer I think it will get improved because it is in the interests of Microsoft to so so, It is well known that a strong multiplayer gives added gameplay and expands the life of a title (which ultimately leads to more cash) I mean look at half life so I think the big M will make sure freelancer is all right .

Well, me ar Matzer have spent a while teaming up. We've basically got Teh Uber ships now, and I might be the highest Rank @ 38. I've tried the Sabre, then the Titan, and now back to the Sabre.

I've got 4 Nomad Energy Cannons, and pretty much everything I need, except a Classs 10 Turret... Yes...I am also looking for one.

Got most of the Class 10 weapons, to look at.

Spent a while today with Matzer killing the Navy and police to "feed" the lower Rank people at Manhattan.

It does need something more...
