Learn to read. You appear to be talking about UK temperatures while the article refers to worldwide temperatures.

The actual quote was:
It says the past 12 months are the warmest recorded by Nasa, and are second in the UK data set, HadCRUT3.

A quick google search of what HadCRUT3 is will reveal this.

From the beginning of January 2006, we have replaced the various grid-box temperature anomaly (from the base period 1961-90) datasets with new versions, HadCRUT3 and CRUTEM3 (see Brohan et al., 2006). The datasets have been developed in conjunction with Hadley Centre of the UK Met Office. These datasets will be updated at roughly monthly intervals into the future. Hemispheric and global averages as monthly and annual values are available as separate files.

No - I was hoping someone would bite and along you swam :)

I take it you agree it wasnt the hottest year ever in the UK (even the Met Office arent stupid enough to claim this)? So what they are talking about is some heavily adjusted figure for averageland - a place that can be found on no map :p

I think its pretty sad that they have to constantly change their calculation methods to maintain the fiction of it getting hotter and hotter around the world - it renders the whole thing meaningless because your then comparing apples with bananas and trying to make something of them being different.

Lets be clear - the last 12 months should have been hot due to El Nino but only by cheating the figures could they claim this to be so - by manipulating correction figures you can set the global temperature to whatever you like - its meaningless.

Still it will all come out in the wash - real science is patient and makes no wild claims - the doomers will be an amusing footnote in the history of ridiculous pseudo-scientific claims :)

What else can you expect? The BBC are bunch of fucking liars with thier own agenda.

I watched BBC news this morning, havent done so for a long time, and every article had a left wing /eco looney tint to it.

Christ we pay for this shit :(

did you read the article or are you just ranting for the sake of it? It's the MET office with the agenda here, the beeb article gives both sides of the argument.

I saw the name "Hadley" in there and moved along.
They've got some serious work to do to regain their lost credibility.

Great troll meight! The first person to reply was able to spot you had been editing quotes and making stuff up. You're more obvious that old.Tohtori.

The only reason I don't have you on ignore is because you are a moderator and so I can't.

The rest of your post was great troll material, I am sure this thread will go far. Keep it up!

No I was just venting my dislike of the BBC after 4 pints of Becks. Got a problem with that? ;)

The original was "second in the UK data set" but I added year to give it better context - big deal :p

Exactly whats made up in my post then?

I see NASA have FINALLY setup a centre to investigate the sun's role in any possible variations in global climate.

I don't have high hopes, but it's a step in the right direction.
