well i know how it helps a minstrel. the better the instrument the longer the effect of the song.e.g instead of a 4 second pulse with a grey instrument a yellow will give u a 6second pulse. This is handy if u wish to twist songs, so u get more then one active song playing.

Wish i could help more but thats all i know for now.

Did a VERY short experiment, at it seemed the range increases.

This might be due to the extended pulse only though.

Its to do with mez length.. not sure about the pulseing bit though.

Time Bonus Instrument
0 Rowan
2 Elm
4 Oaken
10 Heartwood
13 Runewood
16 Stonewood
18 Ebonwood/Ellyl
20 Dyrwood

(Taken from an alb minstrel mez sheet so the woods may not be exactly the same type but i think the effects will be the same)

i'm afraid i disagree a bit there. minstrels use flute to mezz. so there mezz time is built on the instrument as well as commanding cadence skill. Bards however just use music skill and no instrument for mezz. <as far as i know> so their mezz will not be based on instrument con. As well as the fact that bards have longer mezz then minstrel, e.g at lvl 39 my mezz at full instruments was 26secs long(coming from memory) while a bard seems to start off with that length for there first mezz.

Sorry i seemed to waffle a bit there.

hope that helps.
