I beg to differ!

Yeah, it´s a real shame. Things are completely out of hand by now. World of Warcraft is now considered a "Killergame". RL medieval kid encampments are banned because fighting with rubber swords is a violent act. Gotcha/Paintball is banned because shooting paintballs at each other is morally reprehensible.

However! "Hunters" shooting animals IRL is just fine. After all, we need to "help" nature. 2-3 weeks after the school rampage in Winnenden, they cancelled a cybersports even in a town nearby. The weapon fair, which was held just a couple days later was fine though.

It´s a disgusting spiral of hipocrisy, I could go on for hours, but I´ll leave it at that. Anyone got a job outside .de for me?

Hay thanks for posting that it'll come in useful as an example of state imposed censorship for my exam if I get a censorship question!

I love the way they think "people play violent video games ...ergo it must turn them in to violent killers!! Huzzah by jove I think I've got it! We'll ban them!"

However, I think (and am probably wrong here but it's my theory) that maybe, and call me crazy, people who have a 'thing' for guns and violence are drawn to violent video games. It doesn't make them act out, hell in many cases perhaps the people do not even need to act out because they vent all their aggression in the game.

I mean you're not really going to be playing a FPS if you have no interest in weapons and blowing people away and if that is not something that interests you you probably would not have access to a gun or the knowledge of how to use one, or the inclination for that matter.

Lets look at how many serial killers did not play violent video games shall we, I have a sneaking suspicion the answer would be either all or most of them, therefore should we actually make people play FPS's to prevent them becoming serial killers?

On the topic though; it's been proven by a EU research that games enhance things and don't 'cause violent behavior.

Now the same country that is the HQ of the EU is banning games?

If crime had appeared after games, fair enough, but there's always been kids with guns and grannies with knives.

people have always had a tendancy towards violence ever since they evolved, animals naturally have it. Look at any wildlife documentary and you'll see animals killing other animals. Chimps are a good example of animals who kill for food and have been known to kill for the sake of it. People just don't like to admit that we are actually animals too and have these base instincts and urges that don't fit with modern societies views of how we should behave.

It's not difficult to see how this is happening. Politicians live by the vote. Some random screwball shoots up a school after playing farcry. Public wants something to blame, politicians hand them video games.

If anyone feels the urge to go on a shooting rampage please sit all night watching reruns of big brother and listening to Country and Western Music. Also please remember to burn any evidence that you ever played computer games. Brainwash parents and friend to say you never owned a console or PC.

I think they should ban rap music, it promotes gun violence, materialism, gang culture and the objectification of women.

And we've seen how that works when mentally ill persons are sent home with a bottle with pills they have to take a few each day to work, but since they medicate themselves some decide not to take the meds. Have had a few attacks in Sweden where this has happened.

But if they ban violent movies/games, cant we ban stupid politcians?
