You can vote for both if you use multiple computers with multiple types of mouses.

laser mice do not have the red glow, that's 'optical', if i remember right. laser mice are meant to have better precision though.

I'm using a wireless laser mouse(logitech mx 1000) at the moment, it does feel different, not sure if its 'better', but there is definately a difference between the feeling when using optical and laser mice. atleast imo.

hate having to use ball-mice, they're ok for a little while, but as soon as they get grit and dirt on the ball its impossible to clean it properly, the rollers also take a fair bit of cleaning, far less hassle to get an optical or laser mouse. for gaming I'd say optical or laser mice are essential, getting dodgy mouse behaviour at the wrong moment can mess you up, and that isnt something you'll want if you're serious about you're games :)

if you are into gaming then go for an optical mouse with a high refresh rate.

something like the MX700 by logitech.

yea, shiney mousemats are a problem with optical mice, I use a fibery matt thing that isnt shiney at all, never had it go funny on me so far :)

i still beleive ball and chain mice are the best. i cant stand having below 2100 dpi soon gonna go for a 2400 dpi mouse there is a diffrence. optical and wireless mice could go up into the tft, crt monitor debate ...:touch:

Logitech MX700 is the best IMO. I went through an awful lot of different mice in my gaming "career", Intelli Explorer, Razer Boomslang, Logitech Pilot (still THE best ball mouse), Logitech wireless (good, but a little heavy because of the batteries), finally Logitech MX. I`m using a white Everglide Giganta and the mouse is working just fine with it.
My recommendations: avoid wireless mice and keyboards unless you really REALLY want them. How often are you using your mouse and keyboard meters away from your comptuer? All this wireless crap is just a huge marketing thing. Nobody really needs it. Ok, I`m old skool. Sue me. :)

you obviously dont own enough in games to realise the difference :p

ofcourse i jest.

i only suggest it because in my system i dont want a weak point.
the highest refresh rate on my mouse means there is only my self to blame when tits go over arse and i get head shotted everywhere i move.

also buy it for the pure gloat factor. if i really need i can climb up a ladder and use it flawlesly on the surface of the ceiling.

2 years ago I got a free harry potter mouse. I very much dislike harry potter but my other optical mouse (had 2 before this too) kept on skipping around the screen. I plugged this one in as I was getting pissed off and it's been working perfectly ever since. It's smaller then a normal mouse so I cup it rather then lay my hand on it. It's so much faster and more accurate then a normal mouse it's great :D

I guess at least one thing good came from Harry Potter ^^.

I don't understand why people use those cordless things.
Like you are playing and forgot to recharge your mouse then *bam* your entire game is screwed because the battery is empty and you can't do anything anymore.
Also unless your planning to play a few yards away from your monitor a mouse with a cord is so much better (imo).

Oh by the way I use the same mouse for quite some time a Logitech dual optical (with cord!).
But I guess it's all what you are used to using that makes the mouse 'better'.

This one with "UST" written on it, its like 1200 or 1600 dpi or somthing, it was better than the other mice i looked at, its optical and i really like it, and i got it free when i brought a computer case and moniter (the rest of my pc parts were in my backpack that i brought over from the UK, priorites!), i will never go back to balled mice again to much hassle, not enough presison(sp), i would have got a gamer mouse, but money was tight.

Also wireless keyboards and mice have a slight lag on them, it may only be a few tenths/hundreds of a sec but it matters!

You've all seen the bluetooth laser keyboards, right ? Well how about if they invented something similar to replace a mouse ?
