I have killed the Dark Elf inside the mines, rescued Dwarf and have the magic item to open the iced wall blocking the entrance in a cave. For the life of me I cannot find said cave

er...thats baldurs gate I isnt it?

Anyway if it is go to the dwarf town and head north , you'll find another way into the mountains

Yeah that Baldurs Gate Dark Alliance 1. I had trouble with that too. Basically just keep looking. Everywhere looks similiar. It isn't hidden or anything..just a bit of a bastard to navigate.
