OK, I can't find the options for controlling it in Windows XP, though there are many programs (clone CD for instance) which duplicates those options, if there's anything you are using that might have had such options, it's worth checking the you haven't disabled it elsewhere.

Also, are you using Creative Labs "Disk Detector" software for a soundcard? I believe this can have many an issue with Windows own auto-run. There was a recent update from CL claiming to fix such an issue, or you could just disable the useless little bugger altogether :)

To enable AutoRun on Windows XP (Home or Pro)

1. Click Start, then Run. Type regedit and click OK.

2. Locate the following Key/Data name:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersion\policies\NoDriveTypeAutoRun

3. Right-click on NoDriveTypeAutoRun in the Name column on the right and choose Delete.

4. Restart your computer.

Autorun will now be enabled for Windows 2000/XP

Hi abom2002

Just a flying visit :( Perhaps these two Microsoft Knowledge Base articles may be of use? 314855 & 330135.

Kind Regards

What about looking at the properties of your cd drive in device manager and making sure "Auto Insert Notification" is ticked?
