Auto train

I have got a stealther to 24 without auto train. How much of a difference will auto train make to my final levels? As in does it just give you one more lvl in something when your 50 or is it much more beneficial???

Sorry if this has been asked before but didnt find anything.

Every 4 level from lvl 8 your trainer will autotrain your stealth skill if you havent trained it yourself.
So at lvl24 you will get lvl6 in stealth. If you continue this until lvl 48 you will get free lvl12 stealth which means 77 points for free (If i counted right)
I did autotrain until lvl24 with my SB but then I put a lot of points in stealth so I could have fun in the battlegrounds. Without stealth it's a pain to hide.

So at level 48 you get 77 points extra (I think you got it right Proa), so that means you can get 1 or 2 extra levels in 1 skill. If you think thats worth it then go ahead.

Stormeyes, you say you have got to 24 WITHOUT auto-train - as I understand it, you can't now start autotraining, once you have trained it yourself the chance has gone. Either that, or it has to be below the minimum of a 1/4 of your level i.e. at level 24 if your stealth is below 6 it will be autotrained. Not sure which is correct !

IMO it depends how you play and how quickly you level. It will take me a LONG time to get to level 50, so I want to have fun RvR in the battlegrounds before then. Therefore I want to have a reasonable stealth. I plan to autotrain upto level 20 (or maybe 24), not so much because it saves points, but as I don't need stealth so much before then (I am easily stealthing up to mobs at the moment - level 17 - when I am soloing), I can spend the points on my melee skills which should make it quicker to level.
Once I get to level 20/24 I will then start to pile my points into stealth for the next couple of levels and head out into the battlegrounds :)

Also find all the +stealth items you can.

I think the above is correct and of course its my opinion, I'm sure someone can come up with some arguments for it, but I don't think it really makes a lot of difference.

The latter is correct.

Scout = stealth?

I got my scout up to lvl 22 without spending ANY point in stealth..at lvl 22 I have 0 points in stealth...why no autotrain for me?

As far as I know the autotrain is only available to assasins, like Shadowblade, Infiltrator and Nightshades.

For archers I heard the auto-train is on your bow skill, and you'd have to be crazy to leave that to auto-train :)

Is there anywhere I can get a list of which skills are autotrained for which classes ? Thanks.

Someone did post it somewhere on the boards, so the answer is out there somewhere...

From what I remember.

Infiltrators - Stealth
Scouts - Bows
Mercs - Slash/Thrust (well it did on my crush merc.)

What I think...

Armsmen - Slash/Thrust
Paladins - Slash, maybe Chants
Minstrels - Instruments

But so far the only viable auto train I've seen is the stealth one.

I think all pure tanks get autotrained in the basic weapons. All assassins get stealth, arches bow. Paladins might have slash I think.

Damn, why couldn't they autotrain tanks in parry or something useful.

After all it is oh so very useful to autotrain us slash when i've specce'd thrust for a reason

Autotraining in secondary skills like parry would be too uber, you only get autotrained in your core skills.

Gee.. got my ranger to 9... no autotraining was offered... got him to 10 a little later... again, no autotraining.

Do I have to speak magical words or something?;)

Are there any level 50's you know that autotrained a long way? Do they think it was worth the extra effort? :)

Tecknically any Armsman that specialises in slash or thrust will have the alternate trained to max. At 43 my slash has been auto'd to around 12 or something daft.

I guess one tactic to use would be to train in the spec you didn't want to end up with to 50 then respecc in the later patch when it comes out and train in the one you did want. Unless the respec messes something up with the autotraining, I remember they had some problems with that on the US.

Yeah respec doesn't remember you autotraining AFAIK. So you lose the points if you respec.

I autotrained up to level 40..this was about as far as I could put up with it :) It has been beneficial as at level 50 i'll be able to get a couple of extra points in envenom which means that I'll be able to spec in such a way that i would get better poisons a lot earlier than other players who would have to rely on realm ranks to achieve the extra points....and if you need rr5 for lifebane, thats a big difference from rr3 :)
