I've been tracking this for days - there was a coronal mass ejection from the sun and it's walloping the earth right now. If you're in the north, you've got a very good chance to see aurora tonight. However, if the strength keeps building like it's predicted to do then you may see it in the south of the UK.

The skies are clear here, so fingers crossed.

There's a tinge of twilight to the north, and while I saw what I thought was slowly moving spotlights, I'm not saying that I've seen the lights with certainty. This was from a dark location, a couple of miles inland looking directly north over the sea.

I'm not so upset. Solar maximum is coming up in the next year or so, so get used to more solar storms.
I'm also considering a cruise up the Norway fjords in 2014. If you don't see something near the Lofoten Islands or Tromso, then you're smack out of luck because you should see *something* in a week up there.

Well I stood around until past midnight and didn't see anything. It's too light even at 12am here, I think winter will yield better results.

I've seen some photos taken last night and they needed some hefty exposures to be seen even by the camera. The naked eye would not have seen anything.
