I'd like to go see the Aurora Borealis

I've heard that a spectacular place to see them is some northern point in Greenland, but also North Dakota, northern Norway, Lofoten Isalnds.

Anyone seen em for real ?

Usually when stuff like that happens, you´re gonna find a bunch of IRL treehuggers, calling themselves Druids or Wicca, dancing and singing ("Endure all things!" or "Never expect the impossible!") around, who´re actually scarier than the entire eclipse (or whatever it is).

Three allright pics, the norwegian word for it is nordlys, so if you google for nordlys pictures you'll find a bunch.

Seen 'em since i was a wee nipper.

Have seen all colors, shapes and forms. Even seen the whole dang sky filled with them and "explode" in a burst of colors.

It's quite eye catching and could watch 'em for hours.

You might think this is fake:

Something I would dearly love to see before I shuffle off this mortal coil.

Looks like the Veil Rift (imo the nicest background in any DAOC zone by far)

It's very common here in north sweden, see it almost every day during the winter.

someone wanna explain how this happens etc.

Short:

The pulsating and multicoloured northern lights are born at a height of about 100 kilometers above ground level as electrically charged particles collide with the earth´s atmosphere near the magnetic poles.

Saw it once while in Mallaig in North West Scotland. Obviously not as strong or as clear as it is the nearer you get to the North Pole but it was pretty spectacular.

Saw them during the army, was wondering what the fuck was going on outside when it was supposed to be dark yet there were lights flashing around in my room.

Another "exotic" thing we get up here in northen sweden is midnightsun... wich is a major pita if your out driving a car (the sun is just above treetop level so you see nada).
