I'm considering finally upgrading to Windows XP, but my good old Aureal Vortex2 soundcard is no longer supported since Aureal went bust around 2 years ago (?), the drivers haven't been updated in ages but it is all being kept alive by websites such as Vortex of Sound.
Windows Update Advisor states the card is unsupported, but I know Aureal drivers are included in XP and have even been updated by Microsoft since. What I don't know is how compatible they are with DirectX 8, etc, etc, etc.
If anyone is running Windows XP with an Aureal Vortex2 soundcard, particularly for a VIA mobo, can you let me know if you experienced any problems, help is appreciated to avoid me ditching this fine piece of equipment for a Creative Pileoshite Audiblabbery.
FYI, the soundcard I have is produced by Aureal themselves, but the Vortex2 chipset also appears on the Diamond Monster MX300, the TB Montego II, the Xitel Storm and the Videologic SonicVortex2 cards.
