At the mo I have a 128Mb soundblaster card.

I was thinking of upgrading and would like to know if the audigy is any crack?

I use my soundcard for listening to tunes, the radio and gaming and hopefully soon for voice comms, so is it worth it?

Hello :D

Audigy cards are great :) Whether or not you'd use it to it's fullest potential is debatable, but it's fair to say that, depending on your speakers/headphones, you would be thoroughly impressed if you upgraded. As the Audigy 2 has been around for a while now, prices aren't too bad. That said, if you wanted to, you could pick up an Audigy (1) card as a bargain and still notce the difference in terms of sound quality and features.

Alternatively, having just read your CPU thread, you might want to wait and just purchase a motherboard with good integrated audio. Most motherboards now, for both Intel and AMD CPUs, come with some sort of integrated audio. For example, nForce2 boards come with a dedicated 5.1 Dolby Digital Audio Processing Unit (APU), which has been shown time and time again to rival the Audigy 2 (arguably one of the best cards on the market) in terms of sound quality.

Kind Regards

Is there any major advantage with Audigy 2 over Audigy 1?

Nothing major, it is a little bit more polished than the Audigy 1.
