Ati 8500

i have just got ati 8500 but icant install it" HELP"
MY system is amd 1200 A7A266 board 394ddr
After i load the standard vga drivers and remove the nvidia drivers then swap the cards and reboot as soon as windows loads the screen is amass of colors this prevents me from seeing desktop letalone loading the drivers.
this means ihave to reload the old card and reboot or system restore .ihave also tried to swap the card in safe mode but the same happens when i reboot .
i have tried so many different combinations i might wearout the agp slot
this also happens sometimes with the old card geo2
any idears

Why are you removing the ati drivers if you have an ati card?Here's what i did...i removed my old card(g-force 2)i then installed my radeon 8500, i then booted up me pc, i then installed the ati driver, that was it, and that should be all you do mate.

got a Radeon8500 here (well not literally here, but at home)

I just unplugged the Geforce2mx card, plugged in the Radeon and let it boot, installed the drivers from disk (since it detects the card as a PCI VGA graphics card) and rebooted, then installed latest beta drivers and drooled at the 3dmark2001 results.

different with my mates machine, currently running RadeonDDR, we just upgraded the drivers and swapped the card, (we had to remove the 2nd PCI graphics card to get it working properly)

maybe uninstall your VGA drivers you mention and that might fix it, if your running powerstrip disable it temporarily.
sounds a lot like dodgy drivers trying to think the radeon is something different
