Athens shield question

Is this shield to slow to be an option in rvr ? Never really playd a shield type char before so opinions wanted.

It would save me more time getting Golm or scalars and I like the 3 % meele dmg on it. Would I be better off with a small shield like magma infused buckler ?

What class is it for?

Most of the Paladins and Arms use either the Magma Infused Defender (the best non-artifact tank shield), or Sheild of Khaos.

If you can't use a large shield, then the best small shield (I believe anyway) is the Magma Infused Buckler.

That said, people have different preferences depending upon what you are building your template around, so it might pay to look at all the options and see which fits in best.

Its for a slamreaver, I screwed up my temp abit thinking Eirenes bp had meele and style dmg. But will prolly waste endless hours trying to get scalars or golm anyway, and use a small shield for low end cost.

In that case I'd seek advise from a decent Reaver mate. Perhaps Waok?

Gah... DONT use atens

I use a crafted MP small shield..... but danamyr says it all depends wot other items ure building ure temp wiv

Eirenes bp
Snakecharmers weap
Cere bracer
Harpy cloak

These are fixed, I am not going through GoV and SoM camping/madness on alb excal.

This leaves me a bit short on % meele dmg. So thougth was Athens shield/Scalars or Golm to raise it some. Problem is Scalars are up like never and killed within seconds. Golm we all now ...

Seeing the comments on Athens shield I will use magma buckler instead.

Not got an Atens or Athens - but from what I have read is it not a lvl 46 shield? If so - probnot a good option for anyone who has a char that can spec shield, fine on a cleric etc.. for show

Atens shield is good for a reaver if you have the snakecharmer and scalars cuz they create a linked dmg debuff and shield proc. or something.
Don't know myself as I'm using Cyclops shield for now (bit slow really).

I've got the Snakecharmer, need to activate scalars, in all the times I've been to treasure Island (a lot) I never got the Aten shield or the credit. most people have tols me it aint worth it tbh.

Just my 2 cents as a non SC, non auto trained, non Levelled artifact Reaver
