Atari has announced the launch of a new online software service which aims delivers its many titles over the Internet. The service which is avaliable to everyone around the world will distribute the software to personal computers in pure digital form, bypassing the need to install from a disk. Unlimited access to Atari's e-catalog of games, productivity software, and kids' software are located here at www.atariondemand.com for a monthly fee of $14.95 (£8.14 / €12.38).

Sounds worth a punt, but the signup page doesn't seem to be secure (no padlock thingy), even though it states 'Verisign certified'.

Pretty good response from the Atari people!

I emailed them about the signup page not being secure, and 30 minutes later they emailed back saying they'd 'fixed' it... and they have.

I think I'll sign up for amonth to see how it goes.
