Whenever I find a pic on this site that I've especially liked (as opposed to regular drooling) I've pasted it in irc, and always gotten positive remarks and so on.

The Sagittarius Dwarf galaxy was discovered by accident in 1994 and is now known to be the closest galaxy to the Milky Way.

I always thought that the Andromeda galaxy was the closest to the Milky Way.

Buhuh?

Andromeda is the nearest major galaxy to our own Milky Way Galaxy

guess you meant major galaxy there or they didnt know about Sagittarius and possibly other small galaxy's when you heard about it :). (info is btw from the nasa link).

Great site, been using it for a while.... Only problem is once every couple of years they put a photo on for the day they did a couple of years back! Slackers!
