Asdl probs pissing me orf

Got asdl today thinking gre8 less lag in daoc but no its even worse than my old modem was,which has kinda pissed me off no end.I using aol 8.0 with the pack they provided with 512k modem yes i know aol is suppost to be dodgey but never had probs with modem so didnt expect them on asdl.

Game in open areas is fine,dungeons are tottally unplayable rvr agaisnt 1fg was impossible due to huge lag.

Cant even contact goa cus that damn rightnow page is all fecked up and wont accept password etc.

So i wanted to just ask u ppl that have had asdl for a while do u have this problem a lot or is it just my setup that is fecked up,btw web browsing and downloads are fine just fecking daoc thats all screwed up.

Anyone plz save my sanity be4 this fecking thing goes flying out the window ahla flying pig

When i got adsl(Pipex) i had probs with being disconnected every 15 mins,i looked on modem manufacturers website and DL'd latest driver,worked a dream.I know its not same prob as what you have,but it's worth a shot

had aol adsl about a year. They had a few teething probs at first like any new service but no prob with it now.

But yep, if you've got the green alcatel modem I think the latest drivers are 201.2.0.0

Lag caused by dungeons and other groups isn't caused by bandwith, it's caused by local processor overheads. It's more likely to be gfx card related, or processor/memory/hdd.

What system you using?
Simple things you can do are do a total scan and defrag on the hard drive.
Make sure there isn't much running in the background (including ad, spyware which can cause serious overhead issues - download adaware from lavasoft, everyone should anyway) check your memory using memtest (can't remember the link, but easily googleable)
Could just be a slow system too but not knowing your spec I couldn't comment. Worth dowloading latest gfx card drivers and version of direct x too if you haven't recently.

I am having soe probs with my blueyondor broadband connection also. I seem to get red/yellow middle on the lag bar some times

Did defrag and system scan for viruses be4 i installed my new modem etc

I got 1800+ athlon proccessor 512k ddr ram g4 card latest drivers modem is a bt voyager and drivers for them are the latest ones.

Its made me mad as i never had this prob on my old 56k modem kinda sucky i cant even go into a dungeon now and rvr OMG what a joke that was last night,summits not right but im new to this asdl thing so i gotta thank you for your ideas and help.

its yer processor mate, i got exactly the same setup as you, AOL 8.0, Athlon Xp 1800+, but i got a GF4 ti4600 128mb gfx...and i still get Frame lag in dungeons sometimes..ive come to the conclusion that AMD + Nvidia just dont run well together..ive seen my mates PC almost identical cept hes got Radeon 9800 or sumfin..not sure on exact make but it runs smooth.... pissed me off really seeing as Nvidia and AMD are both good companies.

need to test my new pc but It's been fine for a while amd 2500 barton core and previously a g-force 32mb now a g-force 9600 ultra... 1gb ram, works fine.

the athlon 1800 isn't the newest of processors though which may be the issue, my second pc is a 750mhz athlon which is nearly as powerful and i have lag issues a lot of the time with more than 1fg.

Got a T-Com Adsl connection for a couple of years now. Except from a few dropouts every now and then they run fine. A bit of lag every now and then but nothing to worry about.

One thing though: A while ago I considered switching to AOL - installed their software, went online, etc..and I considered the game ran way laggier than before. Tried it over a couple of days (even reinstalled the whole system) but the lag remained.

Well...long story cut short: I did not switch to AOL at that time.

gimped her a little bit and deleted (pre respec that was. wish i'd keep her she was fun)


Btw lag problem sloved now installed xp and all service packs and game (seems) to run fine
