Saw the link on irc a while back its very intresting i agree, i think someone also gave the link to the application which does this.

It runs the film through the application and applies different ASCII chars to different light levels, quite good.

Nice, not realy that hard to do, xine can output avi and divx to ascii useing aalib, just a question of saving them frame by frame
