Earthrise is one i have been watching for some time now, problem is they promise the earth a-la Dragon Empires....which never made it to alpha.....the rest are of no interrest to me personally.

One thing i will say, the columnists on that website are often woeful so take anything they say with a real pinch of salt. Read so many "reviews" from them and often it looks like they have their own agendas which take prevelenace over good journalism.

trying Allods myself atm

its as close to world of warcraft you can come without actually calling it that, and its a pretty shit wannabie to...

only good thing about that game is the "rested xp" they have, you gain that by actually playing. and when you have filled the xp bar with it you go to an innkeeper and "rest" wich will instading you. you gain normal xp to obviopusly, so if you play it smart you wait with going to the innkeeper untill you just dinged normally and ding again that way.

well, the pets look kinda nice aswell, but thats pretty secondary...

Hey! That was their official end of project image!

Still possibly the biggest disappointment in mmo gaming, certainly for me.

Man that community was awesome, still makes me sad to see it :(

Earthrise is the only on there that looks like it might deliver.

Speaking of Dragon Empires:
Codemasters disasters #2 Dragon Empires — Bruce On Games

heh, got caught up reading about his posts on Ev*ny :)

not writing the full name of it as this site have ads, and said game have some very dodgy ways of advertising.

chinese WoW gold farmer using malware browser game to scam even more money out of ppl :)

and there also suing ppl left and right to try and keep it from blowing up in their face, even Google (!!!) is getting annoyed at them :p

gonna follow that one i think :D

Strange thing with DE is very few thought it was actually vapourware, there seemed to be a great game brewing at the time and they kept spewing out screenshots, vids, info updates etc.

The community was HUGE, it was also an excellent group of gamers who unwittingly bought in to the dream mmo that was DE. We were collectively crushed when it was canned.

In hindsight, they promised too much for the game to be viable, which is exactly why i am hesitant to get overly excited at the prospect of Earthrise. I smacks of DE so much it's almost painful to endure.

For me DE would have been the pinacle of mmo gaming, with it's obvious and very public failure, subsequently not a single mmo released in the last 10 years even came close to the epic scale promised by DE, every mmorpg has been a disappointment for me.

Nowadays i lower my expectations and take mmo's for what they are.....limited, but realistically so.

The problem with all new MMOs is that the people behind them do not understand that if you shit on your customers you lose your income. Every single one has failed to deliver on pre-release promises or has had massive game play issues because they throw beta tests to all and sundry, nobody properly tests anything and just treat it as a pre-order perk.

Not one MMO since WoW or Eve has shown anything close to quality, a genre that should be the bread and butter of PC gaming is a joke and an utter waste of money for everyone involved. Shame really.

I am not looking forward to any future MMOs, if they can last for 6 months and remain healthy then maybe I will take a look but I have been burnt too many times for taking an early interest.

Earthrise is interresting, the devs have outlined what the game will be and have basically said, if you don't like it, don't buy it. This is what the game is and thsi is what we will make :)

yep, Earthrise looks ok.

tho this has me worried:

In addition to their skills and abilities gained from adventuring, battling, and crafting, characters can take a "career" that will provide them with cash and other perks. Characters will advance in their career whenever they are offline. You can think of your character's career as their "day job": It's how they make money when they aren't killing mutants or battling in the Outer Territories or experimenting with lost technology. Some of the careers in the game include Holo Artist, Electro Sampler and Zero-T operator

so basically your farming cash when your offline, wich will be a gold sellers ultimate dream....

Well, yes, but if everyone can do it, why would prople buy gold?

Surely it would screw the goldsellers as everyone can make gold regardless of their playtime :)

... does it work like that or is it actually farming when you're not logged in, such as if you're at work where you can get the net but not the game client?

much want more... and ofc supply and demand, if everyone have tons of ingame cash the prices will skyrocket, wich will still mean that you need even more gold to buy the good stuff.

and svarty, it says when ppl are offline :)

so yes you will make money NOT playing :/

What they plan on doing is allowing you to have a dayjob...as such. So, when your offline, your toon is doing their regular job :)
