arthur clarke was a good auther he is a list of his books
Arthur C Clarke

As an author I'm sure he'd appreciate your grasp of English...

Loved his books as a kid, loads of great concepts (Childhood's End was a standout), but on re-reading his writing style wasn't that great. But still a shame; he was the last of the big three Golden Age heavyweights; Asimov, Heinlein and now him. End of an era.

Firstly.
Its a great loss to the literary world and a man who will be both greatly missed and fondly remembered

Secondly. (And I am going to hijack this thread for a moment)
Kindly stop pointing out every fucking mistake jimmy makes when he posts. The guy has admitted on the forums and on irc many a time that he has severe dyslexia and its gettting pretty tedious to read. And Dagaffer, its quite obvious that you have attempted to show everyone what a wonderful grasp you have of the english language but you shouldn't preceed a list with a semi-colon ';' it should have been a colon after "Golden Age heavyweights" which incidentally shouldn't have been capitalised either.

Oh look everyone makes mistakes, hell I've probably made one or two here. What shall we do....

Seriously once or twice may have been amusing, now its just boring and pointless.

Yes it should (or rather, can) be capitalised; the "Golden Age" is referring to a very specific period in SF history and is routinely capitalised, and of course you can use a semi-colon there, this is English, not German. The rules are flexible. And since (oh no, I started with "and") I had no idea Jimmy had dyslexia, I apologise. And recommend using a spell-checker (oh no, I did it again). I just found the grammar ironic in relation to the subject matter.

AFAIK his series called "Mysterious World" from 1980 was released on DVD last month, I'd recommend it, but then I watched it as a kid and haven't seen it again since, so it could be cr*p.

Loved his books when I was younger.
