Some %^$^#^#^&%$####!!!!!!!!! reported my name for abuse and after 600 hours in game they changed it

My name has been mutilated to

It really is not so nice when you get your epic (50) and log in the next day and find you are no longer who you are.

Stupid thing is that only changed my last name at first. When i told them it was strange they only changed my last name they responded:

after further investigation blah blah blah.

investigation my ass....

My old.name literly means Slut mcSlut but imho can't be translated this way and is much less confronting in Dutch

I am in a Dutch guild and NOONE ever made a negative comment on the name as it was. The reaction on the name change on the other hand was more like: o my God, they lost their mind. . . . .

I am very sad that some players find it nessecary to rapport "abuse" in a lanquage they don't speak

<was writing down 5 names who are more abusive then mine but didn't because i see how much it hurts>

And to be honest, what did you expect with a name like Slut mcSlut? You were asking for it...

I don't request peoples names changed, as I can't be bothered, but someone must've found your name abousive enough to bother, and I think it's fair and just that they changed it.

You shouldn't bother whining about it since you chose an offensive name in the first place.

Tho, you should try and appeal to get it changed to some "normal" name of your likeing, perhaps they will be mercifull enough to change it again.

i don't mind getting it changed in my first 20 seasons or so

but after 600 hours ingame?

and as i stated it is not possible to literaly translate

and if it was someone who speakes Dutch he would have reported first name as well

i am very dissapointed:(

Hi guys...

Well I personally didn't find your old name abusive, but then I'm not Dutch... I guess though that if you do choose a name which 'might' cause offence you run this risk and have to accept the consequences. The fact that it happened after so long kind of rubs salt into the wound, but then GOA do have a responsibility to respond to complaints regardless of whether they happen on release day or 9 months later....

As for your guildie, Des, I actually did find that name rather off-putting (pretty much boiled down to Anal Haemmorage, if my memory is right) and frankly in that case I am actually happier not seeing it around.

Face it guys, some names may only be mildly offensive to you or I, but if they are offensive to others and get reported you can only assume that GOA will take action. You can't moan that you want better, faster support through RightNow for other issues and not expect that they'll react in name complaints too. The only safe course of action is to make sure your name won't cause even mild offence.....

Oh... Sloerie... it might be worth a try asking on RightNow if they would change it again, if you offer an offense-free alternative, but my hopes wouldn't be high....

Yep... again against CoC mate, I am afraid... no brand names etc etc otherwise GOA might face nasty legal action... they will always change these ones because it could potentially cost them lots, I think...

The thing I do find stupid about the renaming policy is some of the names GoA rename to are almost as bad as the ones renamed. Ok it proves the GoA employees have a sense of humour e.g Anale being renamed to Complete Haemmorage but the procedure should be along the lines of emailing the player and saying "Your name is against the CoC and thus will be renamed. Please supply a name in keeping with the setting and in agreement with the CoC or we will do so for you."

Give them 48 hours to come up with a name otherwise rename it.
OK you might have problems with people not reading their email but you could always rename the char to their sensible choice once they do reply. Anyway it would produce more names in keeping with the setting.

GoA asked me to provide alternative names within 48 hours. Problem is people don't know you by that name and grouping is mostly based on a "he, i know that guy, he is (not) ok, (don't) invite him" base.

Well i had my name changed when i was at lvl 18 , my original name was abortionist ( dont wanna tell what my surname was because the mids will run after me :) ).
I accept name changes only when they are changed by GOA after
name scan and when it happens they always email you and ask you to propose another name for your character in some days time.
The worst thing is when you get reported by some other player!

when there is GOA personnel to do the job?

I think most of the names made are not to be changed... Just shows the player as no uch thing a creative thoughts

but some poeple should really get a life
like Hestepuler = HorseFucker ... what kind of name is that ?

I was always laughing myself off the chair, as I ran by Microsoft's grave. :þ

I was really disappointed seeing the Microso's grave, but yeah, it's against CoC.

well, i filed a report on myself, Cruhar.

the name as such, is an expression for something, in danish.
the character, at start, was not meant to be very high, so i wasnt thinking too clearly.
when i level up, however, i met more and more people who had an oppinion about my name. most thought it was fun, but just a slight few found it offencive enough to tell me. So i told GOA that such and such about my name is not very good, please change it, so the did :)

eeeumm as a swede I have never heard, or said the word slan.

but on the other hand my vocabulary(and i probably didnt spell it right either) is totaly taken over by english words so I might be wrong

i never had a prob with that name, why people like to do this is beyond my comprehension
