So can it be rigth that an armsman with fa2 and ip have atleast 500 more hits than a thane?

Armsmen are pure, non-magical fighters. They should have more hits than Thanes, and they should deliver more damage in melee also. The fact they do both is absolutely right.

If you want a more meaningful comparison then draw up a comparison with a Paladin. At level 50 I have just over 1,400 hit points - but do no where near as much damage as a Thane in melee ... I also have no ranged attack.

since ive alway got my buff on i have 1021 hp :D

lvl 38 too, so imagine my over whelming amount of hp at 50...

Errr where do i ask for a nerf???? I only asked how many hits a Armsman had.

nah he wanted to know why they'd have 500 (ie a helluva lot) less hits, and why armsmen would get FA and IP too (cos we all no that no thanes have those :p ) and unless your thane has 1200 hits fafnir (wow less than a luri champ has unbuffed :p ) you were exaggeratting a little..

hybrid hits tables, not rouge, and fafnir, get some better equipment, my luri champ (base racial con 40) has about that much unbuffed and we're on the same hits tables as you...

anyways I think the topic of this thread shouldn't be why do armsmen have more hits, but rather.. why are polearms so gimped?? :D is it to balance out their slightly higher hits?

Capped con at 170 and capped str 230. Would have to lower other stats to get +hit items.

STR
Primary: Thane/Armsman
Tertiary: Paladin

CON
Primary: Paladin
Secondary: Armsman
Tertiary: Thane

PIETY
Secondary: Thane/Paladin

Norseman/Highlander same start stats and they play Thane/Paladin, well the pally ends up with more hits, thane stronger, but casting power the same.

Think its pretty lame should rather see con as Primary for thane too, hell we got our str buffs. And with shammy buffs my Thane reaches over 300 str. And i cap my con easy.

And if they changed so con was primary for thanes too. Well then they would have fixed most of the problem why we hit so hard. :)

In a comparison with Paladins that would make Thanes overpowered. You talk about our 'casting power' but we can not do any damage to the opposition at range. As it is you can outdamage us at range, and at close quarters.

Our saving grace is that we can take a few hits while waiting for the clerics to stop smiting (joke lads, joke... :p )

Well we cant heal our group members and cant rezz them. Our magic is just different. :)

fafnir, just have to say, as a champ I have 1242 hits (I think, recently bought back some con which I had been missing for ages so not 100% sure hwat I have now lol) with con at 129, you must have exactly +0 hits from items if you have 170 con...

oh and thanes and paladins are overpowered, cos champs don't even get *any* con at all when they level ever :p

Hehe, 40 odd damage healed every pulse with heal chant - doesn't make a lot of difference, 'cept if the group has been DOT'd. And it only works in combat too.

As for rezzes -- yes, our best ability I think though people have been known to *beg* not to be rezzed by Pallys hohum.

Incidentally the only casting ability we have which is governed by our power/piety (in this patch) is our rez. Thankfully they've found another use for it with the endurance chant which I'm heartily looking forward to!

You have 22 more in Str than my Armsman and he is capped (also he has Aug str 1)

So if you were to have better Con you would need to have a large amount of Str taken from you to balance it imo.
