There is an option in ICQ somewhere to stop pager messages and messages from ppl not on your contact list.

The amount of spam on ICQ has skyrocketed in the last few months with new tools

Hmm, this is spookily familiar.
This character has been sending me the same message, sometimes up to 10 times per day. I've never replied just added each new uin to my ignore list. However, I'm starting to lose patience, anyone got any creative ideas of how to deal with this?

And I swear that Asian Princess hunter has icqed me. I didnt realise before but having checked through my ignore list, user "Dad Loves" num 57197345 states his interests as;

"Those young princesses, who want to meet a real loving and interesting daddy"

Emma sounds lovely and divine you whinging fiend. She's probably sitting at her computer in pigtails, sobbing and scrawling in her diary how much she hates men. And she could speak English!! And yet you complain... Change your details to female on Icq, and trust me, your ignore list will sky rocket and you will have something to complain about.

(oh, and edited, if Emma is just a bulkmail thingy, she's still far nicer to converse with than anyone else that I've ignored.)

Theres a feature to stop anyone whos not on your list sending you msgs I switched this on as I got this shit too.

I did the same as you and reply saying fuck off etc and it seems to be some bot as soon as i press send I got a responce with more crap, did it 5 times and I got back the first msg, seems to be a cycle.

There's a simple way to avoid such mind-numbingly tedious spam (Hi, A/S/L??!!!1111) ... don't use ICQ, it was clearly written by a flock of Gimps, and is now owned by the fleeting corpse that is Connie from AOL :/

Set ICQ to not allow anybody who's not on your contact list to be able to message you under the options. These days I only use ICQ when somebody aint on IRC or when I wanna send free SMS.

Rather than do that I used the words list thingy and set it to discard events containing objectionable words, in this case the word emma.
