Are people losing interest already?

I'm a relative newcomer to mmorpg's, but in the short time i have been playing in hib, ive noticed it getting quieter and quieter. I wonder if its just the hib realm or if the game is just not played by so many generally now. I see lots of people saying they are leaving or want to trade their account with someone else in another realm.

I spose what I'm asking is ...... is daoc just not an Everquest, or are Mmorpg's not actually that Massive in terms of players?

that and a lot of people have been transfering to albion recently because they usually have the numerical advantage over the other two realms (combines with genrally better organisation, much as i hate to admit it ;) )

well i got bored, i have been inaktive like a couple of months, with some logons and offs. i am going to return with the pvp and my infiltrator and case nightmareish things )=). But atm daoc is a boring game, lvling is dull, you can't do anything else but lvl, if you dont get your lvl you cant do anything. i am going back to UO i think for some FUN and LOTS of things to do.and RvR, it is NOT fun to run around with the zerg and get some rps, it is so lame and boring, that is why pvp will be more fun. i will go and ruin the game for the most and keep the ppl that is the same class as me.

PS will not use current nice :m00:

yea, quite basically this is a terrible mmorpg. its fun for the first month or 2, but straight away when you hit 50 its instant bordem all the way, no matter what you try and do. which is why this game is so bad, it has no lastability. theres some idiots on here that will tell you its good and that they're still having fun, but the sad fact is they're just in denial.

Well.

karam for once have a point.
But it isnt all that bad, i like 1vs1 alot, especially if it is a lasting one.

Also group tactics, setting traps... kinda like that.

There are moments and times i am extra bored...

Like this ZERG disease spreading.
No balance, either alb zerg, or hib or mid.
and always the same it is over in a min or 2.
then a 20min wait, then some strays, then zerg.. counter zerg.. zzzz.
And constantly the same area.. Emain.
It is practical in one way, you always know where u can be shure of action, but it also get boring fast.

So i am neutral atm.
cant say i am overwhelmed with joy playing neither am i sleepy with boredom.
There are stuff that make me log, and mostly it is because of fellow players behaving badly or stupidly.

for example, a alb zerg in emain a trap was set with 2 clerics, the rest hidden in woods.
I scouted you and said repeatedly trap! trap! yet some teammembers had to rush in and get ganked, then some more came and these trap setters retreated slowly teasing the mids to come, towards amg.
i again said trap! trap! dont follow retreat and w8 some teleports.
but nooooo.
Then i logged and calmed my sould with watching the new austin powers.
and went back in with a good mood.

Herjulf Hornbrytare - lvl50 something i dunno.. blue and white

Noone forces you to RvR in Emain ...

Personally I've had lots of fun since I hit 50, but then you need to try to do something different now and then.

For the past month, since GOA started publishing the guild XML pages so we could track server population, the number of active players on Excalibur has been rising slowly but steadily. FWIW.

It's interesting the numbers have been rising on Excalibur. It doesnt seem like that at all. Maybe lots of less active people are making alts now? I started a ranger to play when I can't get groups for my ns ....... which kinda means I play my ranger nearly all of the time ;)
Well, I do hope I enjoy level 50 and the rvr when I get there :uhoh:

Everyone has his ups and downs in the game. Overall i like the game. Xp-ing can be boring sometimes but that goes with RPG-games. Try to switch between xp-ing and rvr and crafting. And use alts from different lines of spec (fighter & mage for example) to alter your view on combat ;)

Nr of players has risen in the last months. What you see on the camelot-europe site is players logged on.

Well for me, games usually get boring within a few weeks of buying them, wether MMORPG, FPS, Strategy the lot.
To me, a game lasting any longer than a few months, is a bloody miracle, UO was about the longest lasting one for me, with PK's eventually forcing me out (before the split shards etc, before Europa), and this.

Apart from DAOC and UO, no other game has lasted me more than a few weeks, so to me, this game is pretty damn good to last me this long :)

I am still enjoying the game, but can't wait for the expansion, finally everyone on the new island with new chars will ACTUALLY be newbies lol
:D

I reckon DAOC rocks.
I've been playing my 36th lvl cleric only in PvE and enjoyed it bigtime for a lot of reasons.

Now I've started playing RvR and it's a whole new ballgame.

I can see myself enjoyin this game for a long time to come.

Yeah I've met a few also, but with lots of people in low level groups telling you how to play your new alt, you don't know if they actually know what they are doing, or if they are just guessing :)

On the new island, you will pretty much know everyone is just guessing hehe

Still enjoy it very much...just cant wait for the card game out in next patch (text only ;() so I can set up a casino somewhere like Renaris to pass the time (anyone for 5 card stud?) while waiting in vain to be attacked...

Other than PvP and Shrouded Isles to look forward to, theres always http://www.camelotherald.com/documentation/spellcraft/ some time in the future...but its more the peeps you are playing with than the environment that makes or breaks a game. And my crowd have a blast too often for it to get boring.

Any tips on how to get a decent RvR fight Killgorde?

I've not been playing in the zergmain for long... but I'm already bored to tears with it :)

That'd require finding a sorc :)

Maybe I should try getting to 50 then they'll all be yellow...

or mibbe just wait for 1.52 :) then I'll be able to hit those reds (I'm just 40 atm... but I'm not sure the zerging will be any more fun at 50 ;))

I agree with Biff, I get bored of games very quickly. DAoC and UO being the exceptions. There is still a lot of life left in the game for me and with the advent of the new classes/islands I think it will be last me at least until SWG comes out :)

Don't like to agree with Karam, but well he's right. DAoC has minimal high level content, you ding 50, it's quake with swords, zzz. Very little in the way of high level items to hunt for, you can get an optimal set inside a week. After that you just RvR, and emain is just zergland, i.e. dull.
I'm still here due to lack of a better MMORPG being out and it wouldn't surprise me if I wasn't the only one. :p

Quieter than EQ

Euro DAoC is a lot quieter than US EQ (which had twice as many people per server and no realm division) but that's not always a bad thing. In EQ you had to queue outside overcrowded dungeons waiting for a camp spot to open /yawn. DAoC is very refreshing, it even rewards a group for moving around.

Admittedly EQ lasts longer - it takes longer to hit 60 (L50-60 in EQ takes 5-10 times longer than L1-50 in either game), but most classes can't solo past 50 and it can take 15+ mins to get full mana so a lot of that is downtime - oh and add-in hours waiting for ports, auctioning, waiting for rezzes, recovering corpses, farming/buying supplies, gathering/prepping for raids etc. 130+ days on my EQ primary over 3.5 years, with another 50 on my three L55+ alts - less than half of that was actual xp time. DAoC is much faster-moving with less sitting around doing nothing, which suits me fine, even if it doesn't last as long. The only thing faster in EQ is the run-speed ;)

It may look like EQ has more to do at L60, but raids are only fun the first few times, as you'll find out here if you kill Legion every night for a month ;) EQ even made dragon-killing dull. Sure you can keep xp-ing at L60 in the same old places to get AA abilities, but I'd rather RvR for RPs - at least its different to PvE with an element of randomness - EQ raids are just by-the-book exercises in repeating the same old strategy.

It's early days yet - content is what keeps people playing and EQ is about to get its 4th expansion while DAoC awaits its 1st. After Shrouded Isles DAoC will have 15 races and err I think 39 classes compared to 14 and 15 in EQ - theres a content advantage - that's a lot of alts :p

Oh and Karam you need to find a new game. If you raced to 50 and got bored of the game then you only have yourself to blame. What do you expect us to do about it? Toddle off and play AO, AC, EQ or something - there's a good chap.

Don't hang round here too much or you might get bored of the forums ;)
