Ok.. ive tried for the past two nights to get winroute to work on my dad's pc so I could have internet on my shuttle.

I want to do this because the shuttle has no 56k modem.. and I have no pci modems to spare.

Is it even possible to share an aol connection? I know it would be dam slow, but thats beside the point ;).

If it's the latest version of AOL, which actually uses Dial Up Networking, rather than their own RAS stack then as long as the PC which has AOL has XP on it, it should prove a doddle.

Just go into your network and dial up connections, right click on the AOL connection to get its properties, and under advanced make sure the sharing and firewall tabs are ticked.

Once that's done, all you need to do is tell the networked PC to use DHCP to get an IP, as enabling internet connection sharing under XP starts a DHCP server on the local machine and fixes its IP.

Reboot the machine which will be doing the dialling, connect to AOL making sure the account you just shared is active in your connections window, then reboot the networked machine so its guaranteed to have gotten a new IP - and surf away ;)
