Advice dont get an mx heehee they suck.

you wont get shadows or water effects and reflective surfaces but apart fromt hat you shouldnt have an issue. Well apart from the amout of poly's they can handle so RvR / big events might be a bit laggy

GeForce 4 cards with the MX designation use the old GF2 chipset and don't have hardware support for DirectX 8 (vertex and pixel shaders, to be precise). That's why they are cheap. But it means that they can't display some of the graphic effects used in Shrouded Isles like dynamic shadows and reflective water. This is not a bug.

GeForce 4 cards with the Ti designation use the new GF4 chipset, have full DirectX 8 hardware support, and can display all the new graphic effects in Shrouded Isles.

better save up a little and maybe get an geforce 3 ti 200 or ti 500 , they prob not alot more expensive than the mx cards , but way better performance wise

yeah GF3ti200 is a good buy if you find it cheap somewhere.

GF4MX cards=rubbish.

As far as I know, only the bottom 64MB of texture memory ever gets used in those 128MB cards anyways - if that. Maybe DirectX 9 will take advantage of it, but few if any DirectX 8 games do.

64MB is fine, and the GeForce3 Ti cards are pretty nice. :great:

does anyone acutally use the new water effects? They cause serious slow down on my system and a friend of mine has a 1.8 processor and a gf3ti200 and it does the same on his.

Don't have a serious slow-down from water effects, even when put at highest quality.

Mebbe it's a memory problem ? (I have 512 Mb DDR)

I'm on a 1.4ghz computer with GeForce 3 Ti200 and there is no slowdown at all with water effects on (I don't use the best ones though) I have 768mb DDR

GF4 Ti4200 128 Mb, AMD XP2200+, 1 Gb DDR-RAM works perfectly ;p

my other comp is a:

Intel P4 1.4 GHz, GF3 128 Mb, 256 Mb RDRAM

got some problems in populated areas and when there is alot of water, but thats because of the lack of memory. cant afford more since RDRAM is quite expensive :(
