the photo in this thread is of a food we call "chicken parmo".

i know for a fact it was invented in this town. i also know people 10 miles away have never heard of it!

BUT, i spoke to a girl in california who has bought it in a restraunt. it amazes me people in this country never heard of it yet they serve it in california!

so i want to know the following things from everyone -

1. have you heard of it?
2. where are you from?
3. if answer to 1. is yes, have you tryed it?
4. if answer to 4 is yes, did you like it?

the furthest away ive spread such a gorgeous meal is about 200 miles, word may of spread by now.

Chicken parmesan?

Chicken parmo?

Names elude me as i've not specialized in UK "delicacy"(don't call it a delicacy if it's "basic" food, it's gourmé. Delicacy=cakes and such) names.

What's in it? How's it made? Side dish or course as such?

I've never heard of it and looks like some pizza, there is a dish in my cook book that is chicken wrapped parma ham breasts but I guess this has nothing to do with parma ham :)

thanks but from being from middlesbrough i already knew exactly that :p.

conch its not small, the looks at decieving. the chicken is like nearly an inch thick down wards. has pachemal cheese sauce on and then cheddar cheese on top of that. ofc the chicken is deep fried first and coated in crumbs off the shop floor.

side dish - chips, lettus, onions, white cabbage, purple cabbage, garlic sauce.

we had someone come stay from down the west coast of england.
they had heard rumours of the parmo but never tryed it. so we orderd 2 full ones (the one photoed is a half). the full parmo must weight like 5kg each or something. but no we didnt stop there, one of the lads went crazy. he bought donner kebab meat and garlic to put on it.

which exactly makes the flavour a thouasnd times sexier.

she looked at this 100% fat monstrosity and nearly threw up.
but god u dont come to boro without trying one no mater how nasty it looks.

and there is a special way to eat parmo. get as much as you can and wam it in your face so it goes all over. espcially with kebab meat it took skill eating it all in one go. so on the first bight she had sauce all over face in her hair, dripping off her chin. chips allover the place.

but she ate half of it!

had it, like it, havent had it in a while, worth getting, trying to think of places that sell it in durham now :(. im from durham, and also my family used to own a few take aways so used to get it for free.

u can get it down south aswell since i remember having it on the way back up from london a while ago.

can get it all over the UK but only a few places will sell it in each town i think.
