A friend of mine (actually our former Au Pair) has a secondment with an engineering firm in Leicester (yes, our Au Pair has a masters in mechanical engineering) and she has no idea about where's good or bad to live in Leicester, and as the only Brit she knows (she's Spanish) she asked me. I have no fucking idea about Leicester other than its famous for Walkers crisps, so over to you lot. Where are the good areas and where are the avoid-at-all-costs bits? She'll be working in "Meridian South", wherever the fuck that is.

Ta.

You need @Gwadien for this.

He's a subnormal-IQ massive chav who likes curry and is therefore from Leicester :)

Edit: And pics of your Spanish ex-Au-Pair - or it didn't happen @DaGaffer

I think this is what we call a critical mass in the "FH demands pics" rule.

EDIT: See, me and Scouse agree. It's under two rules now.

Nope. Anyone connected to me on FB can look her up, (she's the only person with a Spanish name on my friends list). She's very nice, and yes she is pretty.

Oh gods, you're one of those internet services that demands a FB account to use. Eww.

& Braunstone, which is right next to where she's going to work, if you want my advice, (and possibly if she's driving & wants to live closer to work, she wants to go further out into the county, so Enderby, Leicester Forest East & Blaby which is pretty much next to where she's working.. Failing that, there's Thorpe Astley which ischeaper, and newish, but it's -right- next to Braunstone, which is more or less horrible. (But has amazing leisure centre facilities [Yay Labour Council])

My cousin lived there for a few years, didn't have much trouble..

If she's willing to commute Meridian South is literally right next to the M1, so she could live further out, Leicestershire is a beautiful county, just shame about the city :)

My sister lives in Market Harborough just south of Leceister (about 12 miles I think), nice area by all accounts.

If she had a car that's where I'd recommend (as I've actually been there for more than an hour long business meeting 20 years ago), but she doesn't so she'll need to be more central. Its only for three months as well so that makes flat shares a bit tricky. I'm surprised the company she's working for aren't giving her a bit more help tbh.

Thing is I've never seen a bus go down that area, since it's a busy area, I'd suggest Thorpe Astley then, she can walk from there.

Thanks, I've mentioned that to her. I did find the bus timetable and it seems there's a regular bus from town that goes down "Narborough Road" so she could look closer to the centre of town if she wants.

Ah right okay... That's closer to the city, there's alright parts, it just turns into ethnic ghettos in parts, not sure there's a Spanish one though :\

Shame, it is a nice little town and I enjoy visiting the place every time I go see sis.

Her house is a zoo!
They have got those long nose monkeys there, but I wasn't going to mention it, but now you've pointed the gun at your foot, I'll do the pleasures and pull the trigger!

And we all know how you feel about ethnic types! Do they gave lawns in the ghetto?

I wouldn't know, I don't speak to those cretin.

I was only mentioning it because she might be uncomfortable in areas such as that :)

Talking about ethnics and ghettos, I need somewhere good to eat in Croydon tomorrow. Know anywhere?

Tapas - gallicia

Med / Greek - aqua

Italian - neuve ponte

If you go from town centre towards south croydon (just follow the high street, the road changes from north end to south end and eventually to brighton road) you'll walk past about 50 restaurants.

edit:// the above are my favourites, Aqua is not cheap but their Kleftico is amazing. There is a good argie steak house as well, but not cheap again. There are various indian and chinese places as well as the usual pizza express, nandos and zizzi as well.
