Anyone else having problems connecting?

Two of us using different Demon dialups, get to Connected to service and it hangs. Not changed any settings since it last worked and it works fine on other ISPs. Validates accounts, gets to server select screen ok, just wont reach the character selection screen and dies at connected to service.

Possible where the game switches over to UDP? (TCP for authentication, UDP for game protocol). Looks to me like some router somewhere aint feeding UDP properly, the question is where :/

Anyone got any hints or other ideas? Anyone else got the same problem? I gave Demon a call but they wont do anything if only 2 people have reported the problem

I get that when I try to connect to excal
it starts connecting, then dies with the message 'service unavailibe'
the other servers seem to work fine tho (at least, Prydwen and Camlann are) and yes, I am also using demon, but adsl and from the netherlands

Don't even get service unavailable, it just gives up at 'Connected to service'

maybe you could lie and say many people in this area have said they have these problems to demon

wee do you use a dialler they provide, or a manual kind of windows dialler?
if you are using xp type networking you might be using that windows firewall. you can go into the advanced options to control which protocols you allow over your network (but i think its network rather than actual internet connection, im not sure if its only available when you share your connection)

are you sure its your isp and not some corrupt or missing file that stops the loading? maybe try the "check all files for update" thing?

its probably worth telling rightnow, especially if it only happens with excalibur! maybe try joining a new server, even if its french or something just to make sure its not just a bad setting thats been saved with your common one! sorry to have been little help

It is definately demon. We can switch to Freeserve and get on no problem. We can sometimes connect via Demon, but normally LD with the hour, and then cannot get past the Connecting to Service message....

Not may dial-up (ISDN) ISP's offer 24/7 no cut off access these days :/

Best we can do is report it to Demon not that they'll do anything cos it doesn't matter if only 4 people can't use their ISP apparently.

GOA Customer Service > Demon Customer Service

Now THAT is saying something.

maybe you can find something in demons terms of use or contract things! they usually say stuff like "we do not limit your internet use" or whatever, quote some big chunks that are generally relevant and question how well they are keeping their own rules!

maybe they'll be all panicy that someone dared to read terms and conditions and think they'll get legal actionarised so they'll sort it out!

Was planning to go with Demon when I get 2mbps DSL when my exchange is enabled at the end of September, not a chance in hell now I've seen they just leave customers fucked for weeks on end without a care in the world about the problem.

And yes, the problem is still there, 2 weeks later it's still impossible to play DAoC on Demon's dialup access.

I am seeing this atm as well, but in my case i also LD every 3 minutes or so after about 6pm, which sounds more like the Nildram thing. Right royal pain in the arse...
